No Way Home breaks free of Apple Arcade as the twin-stick shooter comes to iOS proper

- No Way Home has broken free of Apple Arcade and is out now on iOS proper
- Experience a compelling, hand-drawn space shooter adventure
- Take on hordes of enemies, explore at your own pace and complete missions
For all its amazing releases (and believe me, there are some really good ones), Apple Arcade has one fatal flaw that all subscription gaming services share. They usually claim exclusivity. So, if there's a release you want to play, but nothing else that grabs you, then you either get a subscription entirely for that one release or simply let it pass you by.
However, occasionally, after being exclusive for a while, something breaks free, as is the case with No Way Home, the twin-stick shooter from SMG Studio. This fast and furious space shooter isn't lacking in hand-drawn charm or, indeed, an equally compelling story.
Set in deep space, you play the captain of an astral liner that finds itself unexpectedly frozen solid. Ejected by the ship's AI before an asteroid field destroys it, you're now stranded in a thoroughly alien world with No Way Home, you might say.
Subscribe to Pocket Gamer on Shoot 'em upYes, unlike other twin-stick shooters, which for better or worse focus on fast and frantic levels full of shooting, No Way Home functions a little more like Elite: Dangerous than Galaga. So you'll be both shooting your way through and exploring the world around you as you complete missions.
For my money, there's a little bit of Sunless Sea about No Way Home that I quite enjoy. And the mixture of fast and frantic shooting with a more compelling story, exploration and missions other than just kill, kill, kill provides a winning formula that I'm sure many of you are excited to see come to the regular App Store.
