With the release of the 2.1 Version of Genshin Impact, the official Twitter account is already teasing the new upcoming characters to potentially appear in the 2.2 Update. Thoma, an outlander, would appear on one of the banners in the 2.2 Update.

Who is Thoma?
Thoma is a character originally from Mondstadt. He now lives in Inazuma and is termed as a “Protector From Afar“. Just like the traveler, he is also called an outlander by the folks of Inazuma. He is a Pyro-vision holding character who uses a polearm as the weapon of his choice. He was first introduced in the Archon Quest that was released in the 2.0 Update. Genshin Impact Thoma seems to be one of the more anticipated characters since he appeared in the initial story quest.
Thoma is the housekeeper for the Kamisato Clan and, as a result, is exceptionally close to Ayaka, the clan’s daughter. According to Taroumaru, the Shiba Inu, he is a very good friend and loves taking care of people. Thoma is extremely good at socializing. Despite being an outlander, he has deep-rooted connections with the people of Inazuma. His outgoing personality could be attributed to his hometown of Mondstadt, which is known for its calm and inviting culture. He is a naturally friendly guy who can readily become involved in a variety of issues and form relationships with all kinds of people.
But when it comes to defending the Yashiro Commission’s rights and interests, he will hide his friendly smile and reveal his serious side. Thoma sometimes sits alone in a corner of the Yashiro Commission and reflects on personal matters. Despite his generally happy demeanor, he occasionally has homesickness and wishes to return to Mondstadt.
Genshin Impact Thoma Release Date
Mihoyo has hinted that he might appear in the 2.2 Update, but the leakers have confirmed that he will. It is still up for debate whether he would be a 4* or a 5* character.

— Jared Nyts (@jared_nyts) August 16, 2021Genshin Impact Thoma would be the third Pyro Polearm character to be introduced in the game after Xiangling and Hu tao. His playstyle and leaked videos are not out yet, but if his character is supportive in nature, that could reflect on his abilities. It is speculated that Thoma could be appearing alongside Hu Tao during her rerun banner for Pyro resonance or Ganyu or Yae, it has not been confirmed yet. We’ll just have to wait and rely on leakers or the miHoYo to give us more information regarding him. For now, we can enjoy the new update that’s out and try out the new playable characters and storyline.
