With that, if you want to learn more about 2XKO or want to improve with Ekko, here’s a full 2XKO Ekko Guide.

2XKO Ekko Guide: Moveset & Key Abilities

Ekko has a wide moveset, it includes normals, specials, supers, and ultimate. He also has unique movement tools and follow-ups. For reference, here’s a list of his moveset

Move / Input TypeDescription Normal Specials (S1) Timewinder – a projectile, can throw in air or ground. Down + S1 = variant. Forward + S1 = Temporal Slip.  S2 Specials (Hold / Afterimage) Chronostrike / Phase Dive – creates an afterimage; you can rewind using afterimages. Down + S2 = empowered afterimage / burst.  Super Moves Mega Timewinder (↓↓ + S1), Tangled Timeline (↓↓ + S2) – stronger versions of core specials, cost Ultimate Meter.  Ultimate Attempt #37 (↓↓ + S1 + S2) requiring 2 Ultimate Meter; strong anthem move, high impact.  Unique Moves / Normals Heel Tap (Down-Forward + L), Flip It (DF + M), Step Up (H while running), Air Hop (Air normals). These help with mobility, mixups, pressure.

Ekko’s moveset focuses on the control of tempo and forces opponents to guess. His Timewinder gives ranged pressure while returning like a boomerang, which lets you start combos or force defensive movement. Meanwhile, Phase Dive and the afterimage mechanic create tricky cross-ups. Chronobreak is a powerful escape-and-punish tool.

Ekko’s skill combination depends on the situation you are in, make sure to remember which combo to use so that you can defeat the enemies easily

Ekko’s Strengths & Weaknesses

Essentially, you have to understand what Ekko is good at and where he struggles. This helps you decide on when to pick him or how to counter him.

Strengths:

  • He has high  mobility and escape options because of his afterimages and his rewinds.
  • He creates strong pressure with Timewinder and projectiles that slow or force movement. He is also good  at zoning and punishing bad approaches.
  • Mixup potential: overheads, clone setups, and resets make him good at mind-games.

Weaknesses:

  • There is a shorter reach on many of his buttons; that means, normals are not always safe. You need to respect spacing.
  • Anti-air options are weak. If the opponent stays in air or uses aerial pressure, you may have a hard time.
  • Some combos require precise timing, especially with afterimages since drop potential is real.

Playstyle Tips & Strategy To Play Ekko

If you are still struggling to use Ekko, here are practical tips to play Ekko better:

  • Use clones / afterimages well: Create an afterimage through S2, then use Replay, Chronobreak, or Time’s Up follow-ups. You have to be good with when to rewind is key.
  • Use Timewinder smartly: It’s both a zoning tool and a combo starter. If you forward on certain moves, it avoid going backward accidentally.
  • Pressure with overheads: When a clone is charged or after using certain setups, use Flip It overhead to force opponents to react (block low or high). With this, overheards can open up combos.
  • Corner control: Ekko shines in corners because Timewinder toss or heavy attacks can cover space, then deal some high damage combos. So you have to be aware of stage positioning.

Updates & Frame Data Changes

Recently, patches had some changes about Ekko, you need to be aware of them so that you’ll know how to adjust your playstyle:

  • Flip It (DF.M) startup is reduced so overheads are faster.
  • Charged Chronostrike (holding S2) now passes through opponents on block.
  • Phase Dive changed so it passes through cornered opponents. Helps with escaping or chasing in tight spaces.

Final Thoughts

Ekko is one of the best champions to master in 2XKO thanks to his time-bending kit and mixup skills. His specialties, like Timewinder and Chronostrike let players do creative zoning and do combo routines. While Phase Dive and afterimage enhances mobility.

Although his range and anti-air tools are not as strong as other fighters, if you know how to do careful position clone setups then you are good to go. If you’re new to him, focus first on learning how to create and control Afterimages, then layer in overhead pressure and optimized corner combos.
