It’s time to say goodbye to Teamfight Tactics’ Set 13! ‘Into the Arcane’ brought Piltover and Zaun to every tactician board, with new champions from the show joining in. Now, for the second quarter of the year, we’re bound to experience another transition into a new world. When does the new TFT set come out? Well, it’s closer than you might think.

Set 14 Release Date

Set 14: Cyber City has been on the Public Beta Environment (PBE) server for quite some time now. Players on the server had the chance to experience the new set ahead of release on March 19, 2025. But when does the new TFT set actually come out officially?

Set 14: Cyber City goes live with the release of Patch 14.1 on April 2, 2025. So, get ready to explore the ins and outs of this neon landscape, with new traits, augments, mechanics, and champions!

Set 14 Overview: Champions and Traits

Riot devs have been dropping snippets of Set 14: Cyber City on various social media accounts. Now, we have a good enough glimpse into what this new set offers to get excited about it! There’s no blaming gamers who curiously ask when does the new TFT set come out.

There are new and returning champions for this set, like Kobuko! Arcane characters like Vi, Jinx, and Ekko, have also stayed to welcome you in Cyber City. These champions possess new traits which give fresh bonuses that make your board stronger.

The biggest ones seem to be Nitro and Exotech, with effects that add extra sources of damage for your team. We’re talking 3 powerful items, huge rainbow lasers, and an upgradeable robot companion! We also have Prismatic Traits for Anima Squad, Divinicorp, Exotech, and Street Demon. Meanwhile, bonus traits from 5-costs like Garen, Renekton, Viego, and Zac are basically “cheats” that give you a huge advantage.

New Set Mechanics

Meanwhile, replacing the Anomaly mechanic from Set 13 is a new one called “Hack”. Unlike the Anomaly which only appears once in the match, you can get an average of 3 hacks per game. Hacks will affect the core game elements, like augments, items, loot, and even the shop.

For example, one Augment Hack introduces a choice between one strong augment vs. two weaker ones combined. Luckily, we don’t have to wait any longer asking when does the new TFT set come out. We can experience these game-changing hacks for ourselves immediately on the patch update.

Additionally, Encounter Hacks also give amazing openers, which give every game a unique buff or rule. There are two we currently know of: Azir’s Soldier and Urgot, both active once per stage. The former tailors a shop to your traits while the latter gives you a random amount of loot.

Personalization and Cosmetics

Along with big gameplay changes, Teamfight Tactics also introduces new cosmetics and personalization options. New arena skins that features multiple futuristic floors and a new Unbound skin for your tactician await.

Devs introduced the sleek, cyberpunk aesthetic of Project: Vayne Unbound, a tactician skin. This skin fits perfectly with the new arena skin, Project: Edgefall, with a unique elevator theme. The scenery changes with every floor, and you’ll surely be mesmerized with cyber city from top to bottom!

Separate from the true cyberpunk cosmetics, Riot has also released a Chibi Forecast Janna ahead of Set 14. Meanwhile, a chibi tactician skin for Yone has also been teased for the coming patches.

The newest addition are portal cosmetics, which allows you to customize your main entrance to the Convergence. There’s one that sticks to the Project theme, while others match already existing arena skins. With this update, you’ll truly be able to decorate your TFT experience the way you want it!

Conclusion

Are you excited for Set 14: Cyber City? Now that there’s no more asking “when does the new TFT set come out”, we’re sure to arrive at this neon metropolis on April 2. Make sure your ready to meet your favorite champions and dominate the board in cyberpunk style.
