And the four losing teams, Xi Lai Gaming, Dragon Ranger Gaming, FULL SENSE, and Global Esports, now sit at 0-1 and need to win their next match just to stay in the tournament.
Here is every result from the weekend, what the performances actually mean, and what to watch heading into Round 2 on June 8 and 9.
Round 1 Results at a Glance
Date Match Result June 6 Xi Lai Gaming vs NRG NRG win, 2-0 June 6 Team Vitality vs Dragon Ranger Gaming Vitality win, 2-0 June 7 FULL SENSE vs FUT Esports FUT win, 2-0 June 7 Leviatán vs Global Esports Leviatán win, 2-1Vitality Did Not Just Win, They Sent a Message
Team Vitality vs Dragon Ranger Gaming was not a contest. Vitality won 2-0 and posted a round differential of +18, the best of any team across the entire opening round. They took 26 rounds while conceding only 8. That is not just a win, that is a statement from the European squad going into a tournament where every team is supposed to be capable of beating every other
Dragon Ranger Gaming, representing VCT China, had no answers. Whether that reflects how good Vitality are right now or how much DRG struggled to adapt to the offline LAN environment is a question that Round 2 will start to answer. But based on pure performance, Vitality look like the team to beat in the 1-0 bracket.
Vitality now face FUT Esports on June 8 in what should be the best high-bracket match of Round 2.
NRG Opened Clean With a Quiet 2-0 Over XLG
NRG did not need to be flashy. They beat Xi Lai Gaming 2-0 and finished with a round differential of +9. Solid and controlled. Xi Lai Gaming, the VCT Pacific representative, could not find the kind of momentum needed to take a map off a team as structured as NRG.
The North American squad head into Round 2 facing Leviatán in the other high-bracket match on June 8. Given how shaky Leviatán looked in their Round 1 match, NRG will feel good about that draw.
FUT Looked Ruthless Against FULL SENSE
FUT Esports put up the second-best round differential of Round 1 at +16, sweeping FULL SENSE 2-0 in a match that was over early. They won 26 rounds and gave up only 10, which puts them in the same conversation as Vitality in terms of raw performance from the opening weekend.
FULL SENSE now drops to 0-1 and will face Global Esports in a must-win match on June 9. Both teams need the win to stay in the Swiss Stage.
Leviatán Won But Barely, and That Should Worry Their Fans
The only 2-1 result of the weekend came from Leviatán vs Global Esports, and it was far closer than anyone expected. Leviatán came away with the win, but Global Esports actually won more total rounds across the series, 33 rounds compared to Leviatán’s 30. The Latin American team won the maps that counted, but the margin was paper thin.
Global Esports played well enough to win this match and did not get the result their performance deserved. They now face Dragon Ranger Gaming on June 9, and given how they played in Round 1, they have every reason to feel confident.
Leviatán face NRG on June 8 in a match where any repeat of their Round 1 shakiness will likely be punished.
Swiss Stage Standings After Round 1

Leviatán being the only 1-0 team with a negative differential is a stat their coaching staff will not be ignoring.
What Happens Next: Round 2 Schedule
Round 2 runs on June 8 and 9, splitting the 1-0 teams into high-bracket matches and the 0-1 teams into elimination-pressure matches:
June 8 (1-0 High Bracket)
Team Vitality vs FUT Esports
NRG vs Leviatán
June 9 (0-1 Low Bracket)
Dragon Ranger Gaming vs Xi Lai Gaming
Global Esports vs FULL SENSE
Any team that goes 0-2 is eliminated. Any team that goes 2-0 advances directly to playoffs. The 1-1 teams after Round 2 play a final Swiss decider in Round 3 on June 10.
The four Swiss Stage qualifiers then join playoff seeds G2 Esports, EDward Gaming, Team Heretics, and Paper Rex in the double-elimination playoff bracket starting June 12. The Grand Final is on June 21, with $350,000 and 8 VCT Championship Points on the line for the winner.
