Sentinel Pump Vaulted in Fortnite’s Upcoming Loot Update - Leaks & News

Fortnite recently leaked major changes through an in-game news tab screen, which was swiftly removed. This accidental post revealed that the Sentinel Pump shotgun and Hollow Twister assault rifle are being vaulted, while several other weapons are returning to the loot pool. Though the exact release date remains unclear, these updates appear inevitable.
What Was Leaked?
The now-removed Fortnite news tab stated the following changes:
Vaulted: Hollow Twister AR, Sentinel Pump Shotgun
Unvaulted: Twin Mag AR, Scoped Burst SMG, Infiltrator Pump Shotgun
Increased medium ammo spawn rate
This message sparked confusion, as the changes hadn’t gone live when it was posted. Since then, Epic Games removed the update screen, suggesting the changes will launch soon—possibly on March 25 or April 1. Whether this was a scheduling mistake or a tease, the leak came directly from Fortnite’s own UI, lending it credibility.
The Disappointment Around Sentinel Pump’s Removal
Many players, especially those using controllers, consider the Sentinel Pump shotgun one of the most enjoyable and satisfying weapons in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 2. The improvements this season made it smoother and more reliable than its earlier versions. After a long stretch dominated by weapons like the Gatekeeper and Frenzy Auto, the Sentinel Pump reintroduced the fun of a proper pump-action shotgun.
Its removal represents a big shift. Players now have shotguns like the Infiltrator Pump, Twin Fire Auto, Outlaw, and Pump and Dump—none match the tactical feel of the Sentinel. Despite its name, the Infiltrator Pump plays more like a spammy Combat Shotgun. It lacks the precise rhythm and control that made the Sentinel Pump such a standout.
Infiltrator Pump and Shotgun Meta Concerns
The new meta appears to be leaning toward faster, less controlled shotguns. The Infiltrator Pump’s rapid fire rate (about 1.2) makes it feel more like a weaker version of the Combat Shotgun rather than a true pump. The tight spread and mid-range strength are solid, but the lack of consistent, high-damage shots makes it feel underwhelming. Players who prefer the slower, more deliberate pump style will likely find the upcoming meta less satisfying.
The Outlaw Shotgun may emerge as the best of the remaining options. Its gameplay relies on rushing in, firing both shells, and hoping for a quick kill—not a rewarding or strategic style. This shift could make close-range fights more chaotic and less skillful, frustrating fans of the Sentinel Pump’s precision.
When Will These Changes Go Live?
Most players expect this loot update to go live with Fortnite’s next scheduled update on Tuesday, March 25. However, since that patch is expected to bring new content, Epic might delay the weapon updates to a later date—possibly April 1. Historically, Fortnite often rolls out vaulted and unvaulted loot pool changes on off-weeks without requiring major downloads. This delay could allow them to reserve the news tab for promoting more exciting content instead of quiet balancing changes.
Until confirmed, all signs point toward this being a real, soon-to-be-implemented shift in Fortnite’s gameplay dynamics. And for those who enjoyed the Sentinel Pump, the disappointment runs deep.
