Palworld: How to Get Shadowbeak (Location & Breeding Guide)
Shadowbeak is one of the strongest Dark-type Pals in Palworld, thanks to its powerful Partner Skill that can dramatically increase its Dark damage while mounted. Whether you’re building an endgame combat team or collecting rare Pals, Shadowbeak is well worth adding to your roster.
Here’s where to find Shadowbeak, how to breed it, and what makes it such a powerful combat companion.
Shadowbeak Location
Shadowbeak can be found at Wildlife Sanctuary No. 3, located off the coast north of the desert biome.
The sanctuary doesn’t contain a Fast Travel waypoint, so you’ll need to travel there from the nearest coastal waypoint.
While it’s possible to swim across using a Water-type Pal, flying to the island is the safer option. The sanctuary is patrolled by security robots that attack unauthorized visitors, and a flying mount makes it much easier to avoid them.
How to Catch Shadowbeak
Before heading to Wildlife Sanctuary No. 3, make sure you’re properly prepared.
Recommended items include:
- Ring of Mercy, which prevents you from accidentally defeating Shadowbeak while lowering its health.
- High-tier Pal Spheres to improve your capture chances.
- A strong combat team capable of dealing with the sanctuary’s dangerous wild Pals.
Using the Ring of Mercy allows you to weaken Shadowbeak with powerful attacks before attempting a capture.
How to Breed Shadowbeak
Once you’ve caught both a male and female Shadowbeak, you can breed additional copies at your base.
To breed Shadowbeak:
- Place one male and one female Shadowbeak in a Breeding Farm.
- Supply the farm with Cake.
- Wait for the pair to produce an egg.
- Place the egg in an Egg Incubator.
Every egg produced by two Shadowbeaks will hatch into another Shadowbeak, making breeding the easiest way to build stronger versions through condensation.
Shadowbeak Partner Skill
Shadowbeak’s Partner Skill, Modified DNA, increases the Dark damage dealt while you’re riding it.
Partner Skill Level Dark Damage Bonus Base 15% Fully Condensed Up to 100%At maximum condensation, the damage bonus doubles Shadowbeak’s Dark-element output, making it one of the strongest mounted combat Pals in the game.
Because Dark attacks are especially effective against Neutral-type enemies, Shadowbeak excels in many combat encounters.
Pairing it with a Quivern, which further boosts Dark damage, can increase its offensive potential even further.
Is Shadowbeak Good for Base Work?
Not particularly.
Shadowbeak only offers:
Work Suitability Level Gathering 2While it can handle basic Gathering tasks, many other Pals are significantly more efficient for base automation. If you’re optimizing your workforce, it’s generally better to assign your base slots to utility-focused Pals such as Solenne or Renjishi, while keeping Shadowbeak dedicated to exploration and combat.
Is Shadowbeak Worth Getting?
Absolutely. Shadowbeak is one of Palworld’s premier late-game combat Pals, offering exceptional Dark-element damage that becomes even stronger after condensation. Although its base work capabilities are limited, its powerful Partner Skill and impressive combat performance make it an excellent choice for boss fights, exploration, and challenging endgame content.
