Crude Oil is one of the most important late-game resources in Palworld, serving as a key ingredient for advanced crafting recipes and high-tier technology. While players can obtain it in several ways, some methods are far more efficient than others. If you’re preparing for endgame progression, establishing a reliable oil supply should be a top priority.
Build Crude Oil Extractors for Passive Farming
The most effective way to farm Crude Oil is by constructing Crude Oil Extractors.
This structure becomes available after reaching Level 50 and unlocking its blueprint through the Technology tree. Crafting one requires:
Material Amount Pal Metal Ingots 250 Circuit Boards 50Pal Metal Ingots are produced by smelting Ore, Pure Quartz, and Paldium in an Electric Furnace or better. Circuit Boards are crafted at a Production Assembly Line using Polymer and Pure Quartz.
Once built, place the extractor on a natural oil deposit. Several deposits can be found across the map, making it worthwhile to establish a dedicated base nearby.
Keep in mind that the extractor requires a continuous power supply. Assigning a Pal with a high Generating Electricity Work Suitability ensures the machine operates without interruption.
Hunt Kikits for Immediate Oil
If you only need a small amount of Crude Oil, hunting Kikits is a viable alternative.
These armadillo-like Pals inhabit the Southern Sandbar area of Sakurajima and can drop Crude Oil when defeated or captured.
While this method provides faster access than setting up infrastructure, it’s considerably more labor-intensive. You’ll need to actively farm Kikits whenever you need additional oil, making it better suited for short-term needs than long-term production.
Some players also breed Kikits before harvesting them for resources, but this generally requires more effort than simply relying on Oil Extractors. If you prefer hunting, increasing Pal spawn rates through the world’s settings can improve farming efficiency.
Collect Crude Oil from Supply Drops
Supply Drops occasionally reward players with small amounts of Crude Oil alongside other valuable resources.
Since these events require very little effort to complete, they’re worth checking whenever one appears nearby. Players can also increase Supply Drop frequency through the World Settings menu.
That said, Supply Drops should be viewed as a supplemental source rather than a dependable farming method. Their rewards are randomized, making them unreliable if you need large quantities of oil.
Which Method Is Best?
For most players, Crude Oil Extractors offer the best long-term return. Once powered, they generate oil automatically, allowing you to focus on exploration, breeding, or other late-game activities while your stockpile grows in the background.
Hunting Kikits remains useful when you need resources immediately, while Supply Drops provide occasional bonus materials during regular gameplay. Combining all three methods is the easiest way to ensure you never run short of Crude Oil as you progress through Palworld’s endgame crafting system.
