The Hive Lords are certainly among the biggest enemies you will face in Helldivers 2. It has 150,000 health points, making them a tough opponent without proper preparation. You have to dodge their attack well to avoid getting killed.

Where to Find Hive Lords

Primarily, these Hive Lords appear on Terminid hive worlds at higher difficulty levels, guaranteed at level 10. However, some players encounter these as early as level 7 as an early challenge. Also, they are tied to specific mission types, particularly on mobile extraction missions which require open spaces. 

To know if there is a Hive Lord nearby, listen attentively for distinct and horrifying tunneling sounds echoing from beneath the surface. This is your cue to prepare for any emergence of the creature, sending debris and sands everywhere.

But to defeat the Hive Lord, you will need to understand its attack patterns first, including its abilities. This will allow you to prepare the right strategy in fighting against it. 

Ground Ripples and Eruptions

    • Once Hive Lords burrow underground, they will create massive sand waves to reveal movement patterns. If you get caught in their path, it will knock you down and leave you vulnerable. Also, they can burst from the ground at any moment to reposition or launch direct attacks.

Falling Debris

    • After a Hive Lord emerges from underground, huge rocks and debris will fall from its body. This may crush any Helldivers below if they are not attentive.

Bile Spray

For most players, Hive Lords are more of environmental hazards than enemies to eliminate. You won’t get any reward from defeating these creatures other than personal satisfaction. Attempting to kill them only takes your time, ammunition, and reinforcement lives.
