Mega Seeds are among the rarest special seeds in Grow a Garden 2, giving players a chance to grow oversized crops while potentially unlocking plants normally found in the Seed Stand. Because they only appear during a limited-time weather event, collecting them requires quick reactions and a bit of luck.

Here’s everything you need to know about finding Mega Seeds and making the most of them.

How to Get Mega Seeds

At the moment, Mega Seeds are available exclusively during the Mega Moon weather event.

Mega Moon is one of the rarest nighttime events in the game, with only a 2% chance of replacing a normal night cycle. Like the Blood Moon event, it appears infrequently, so you may need to wait through several nights before encountering it.

When Mega Moon begins, you’ll notice several visual changes:

  • The moon becomes much larger than normal.
  • A blue glow surrounds the edges of the map.
  • On-screen notifications announce when Mega Seeds have spawned.

The event lasts for approximately two minutes, giving players a short window to collect as many seeds as possible.

Finding Mega Seeds During the Event

Mega Seeds spawn randomly across the map once the event is active. The number of seeds generated depends on how many players are in the server, helping ensure there are enough for multiple participants.

Since every player is competing for the same rewards, races to each spawn often become chaotic. Players can use shovels and other tools to interrupt opponents before they finish collecting a seed.

Mega Seeds are relatively easy to identify because they:

  • Glow bright blue.
  • Slide across the ground as they appear instead of spawning instantly.
  • Are announced through an in-game notification.

To claim one, stand next to the seed and hold E for several seconds. If another player knocks you away before the interaction finishes, you’ll need to start the capture again. Once claimed, the Mega Seed immediately disappears from the map, and the entire server is notified that it has been collected.

Tips for Collecting Mega Seeds

Because the competition can be intense, mobility is just as important as speed.

Some of the most useful strategies include:

  • Keep your Shovel equipped so you can knock away nearby players.
  • Eat a Speed Mushroom for a movement boost.
  • Equip Bunnies to increase movement speed.
  • Use the Rainbow Carpet to reach distant spawns quickly.
  • Push opponents away with a Strawberry Sniper.
  • Use a Player Magnet to pull competitors away from a seed.
  • Move rivals aside with a Wheelbarrow before claiming the reward.

Zooming your camera out and constantly circling the map also makes it easier to spot newly spawned Mega Seeds before other players do.

What Do Mega Seeds Grow?

Mega Seeds function similarly to the special Gold and Rainbow Seeds, but with one major advantage: every Mega Seed grows into a large-sized plant.

When planted, a Mega Seed can become any crop normally available from the Seed Stand, including rare options such as Dragon’s Breath.

However, the odds of receiving high-tier plants remain fairly low. Most Mega Seeds will still produce Common or Uncommon crops, including:

  • Strawberry
  • Tulip
  • Tomato

Even so, they’re valuable because they offer a free chance at rare plants while guaranteeing oversized crops.

Are Mega Seeds Worth Farming?

Despite their rarity, Mega Seeds are well worth collecting. Large crops typically produce heavier harvests that sell for more at the Sell Stand, making them an excellent source of income.

They’re especially useful for newer players who are still building their gardens, as they provide free Seed Stand crops while offering a small chance to unlock some of the game’s rarest plants. Even when luck doesn’t deliver an exotic crop, the guaranteed oversized harvest makes every Mega Seed a worthwhile reward.
