The Physical Copy Situation Is Worth Reading Carefully

Rockstar confirmed that the physical edition of GTA 6 contains no disc. Open the box and you will find a download code on a piece of paper. You redeem that code on PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store, then download the game.

The physical box does come with printed cover art and the game case itself. That is the only tangible difference between buying it in a store versus buying it digitally.

Pre-load begins at local midnight on November 12, 2026, one full week before the game releases on November 19. That week of lead time suggests the download size will be large.

The Ultimate Edition is $99.99 and adds a large volume of exclusive content layered across the campaign. Rockstar confirmed that Ultimate Edition items are “threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia’s story,” meaning you do not get everything at the start. New items unlock chapter by chapter.
