The latest Fortnite update introduces Mortal Kombat’s Scorpion as a new NPC, bringing new loot, mechanics, and themed locations. Scorpion spawns randomly in one of three Mortal Kombat-themed areas, which rotate every match. Players can identify his location by an indicator on the map, provided he’s alive. Keep reading to learn more about the latest Fortnite x Mortal Kombat Update.

The three new landmarks are:

  • The Pit, located east of Shining Span, recreates the classic Mortal Kombat bridge.

  • The Deadpool, found beneath Masked Meadows, no longer connects to the void mask stand. Players must now access it through alternate tunnels.

  • The Living Forest, north of Lone Wolf Layer, replaces Sub-Zero’s former spawn. Players must ring a bell at this location to summon Scorpion.

Defeating Scorpion grants his mythic combat kit and Scorpion’s Medallion. The regular version of the combat kit appears in the general loot pool. The mythic variant, similar in function to the Typhoon Blade from Season 1, boasts enhanced damage and durability.

Scorpion’s Combat Kit and Medallion Mechanics (Fortnite x Mortal Kombat Update)

Scorpion’s melee weapon resembles firebending in standard use but adds an alternate attack to drag opponents using a chain mechanic. This functions similarly to the Hades Chain—players can press the aim button to launch the chain, pulling enemies closer for combo attacks. Some players have used this to cause fall damage or knock enemies into rift zones.

The drag ability can also retrieve loot, including from fishing spots. While the mechanics offer utility, the combat kit remains divisive. Some may find melee gameplay less rewarding, especially in high-stakes fights.

The medallion adds explosive damage to the first shot from any magazine. This effect adds 20 bonus damage to that shot, making it most effective with shotguns like the Sentinel or Infiltrator Pump and the Mammoth Pistol. Since these weapons reload one round at a time, they make it easy to maximize the medallion’s effect during sustained fights.

Loot Pool Updates: Buffs, Nerfs, and Additions

Several items returned to the loot pool:

  • Twin Mag AR

  • Infiltrator Pump Shotgun

  • Scoped Burst SMG

Nothing was removed during this update, despite a previously leaked news post hinting that the Hollow Twister AR and Sentinel Pump might be vaulted. As of now, all weapons remain in play.

The Twin Mag AR received a base damage nerf of three across all rarities. While it’s a solid AR with zoom capabilities, its poor hip-fire accuracy makes it less viable in close-range fights compared to the Striker Burst or Hollow Twister AR. The Twin Mag can perform well when shooting airborne enemies, especially those using rift launchers, but it lacks the versatility of its competitors.

The Infiltrator Pump Shotgun saw a major buff in damage output—up to 20% more base damage and a 40-point increase in max damage across rarities. However, its fire rate dropped from 1.2 to 1.0 shots per second. This adjustment makes it feel slower, falling into an awkward middle ground between high-damage pump shotguns and fast-firing options. Some may prefer its versatility, but others may find it underwhelming compared to the Sentinel Pump.

The Scoped Burst SMG also returned, offering solid performance in early fights but falling short in long-range scenarios. Its utility diminishes outside early game due to its limited range and the need to limit inventory to two main weapons.

Other Adjustments: Combat Kit Buffs, Dilbit Changes, and Vault Loot

The Subzero Combat Kit received a minor damage buff, increasing some attacks by five points. While not game-changing, this tweak makes it slightly more viable for players who favor that combat style.

Water Sprites returned after being temporarily vaulted due to a bug, which has now been fixed. Dilbit Server Farms and Jewelry Stores now appear on the map and may drop dilbits. These locations function similarly to black markets and vaults, offering more accessible farming routes. However, as many players now have upgraded keycards, the rush to secure dilbit loot has become more competitive.
