EA Sports FC 26’s Season 8, officially called Festival of Football: National Pride, went live on June 4, 2026. It comes with a full 30-level Season Pass, a brand-new card type with no default PlayStyles, a reimagined objectives layout, and arguably the most generous free reward in the game this year: a 97-rated Maradona that every player can earn without spending a single coin or FC Point.

What the National Pride Cards Actually Are (And Why PlayStyles Lab Changes Everything)

Every player card introduced in Season 8 belongs to a new rarity called National Pride. These cards launch with zero default PlayStyles, which is different from almost every other promo card released this cycle.

Instead of being stuck with pre-assigned traits, you assign PlayStyles yourself using the PlayStyles Lab. This is the same system that appeared in the FUT Birthday Bakery earlier this year. You pick which PlayStyles and PlayStyle+ traits the card gets, which means a card that looks average on paper can be built around your squad’s specific needs rather than what EA decided to give it.

The catch is that customization requires resources and time. If you want to make a National Pride card genuinely meta, you need to invest in the Lab. For casual players who just want to slot a card in and go, these are less plug-and-play than standard promos.

The Season Pass EVOs: Intercept+ and Finesse Shot+

Two Evolutions are confirmed for the Season 8 pass:

Intercept+ Evolution

  • Adds Intercept+ as a PlayStyle+

  • Maximum 4 PlayStyle+ on the card

  • Rating cap: 93 overall

Finesse Shot+ Evolution

  • Adds Finesse Shot+ as a PlayStyle+

  • Maximum 4 PlayStyle+ on the card

  • Rating cap: 94 overall

Both of these appear in the later levels of the pass, around Levels 26-28. Finesse Shot+ is the one to target if you have a striker like Alvarez who is currently missing that trait. A player sitting at 94 overall with Finesse Shot+ suddenly becomes significantly more dangerous in front of goal.

The earlier-level EVOs in the pass cover attacking stats with a +2 boost (repeatable up to eight times), a pace boost EVO (Afterburner style, up to +10 speed, max 93 overall, repeatable five times), and a defender-focused EVO for 94 pace, 94 defending, and 94 physicals that resets progress at the start of the season. Sophia Wilson: Is She Worth Grinding to Level 30?

Sophia Wilson is the headline premium reward at Level 30. Her base in-game rating is 88, she plays as a Striker for Portland Thorns, and her base stats lean heavily toward pace (91 acceleration, 92 sprint speed) and shooting (89 finishing, 88 positioning).

The Season 8 National Pride version is significantly upgraded from her base card, with reports from the community suggesting a 96-rated version with five-star skills and five-star weak foot. Because it is a National Pride card, her PlayStyles are fully yours to assign through PlayStyles Lab.

At 500,000 coins for the premium pass and the requirement to reach Level 30, Wilson alone is a borderline justification if you are already a fan or run a USA-heavy squad. The 1-of-3 Ultimate TOTS Player Pick at Level 27 and the multi-choice 90+ packs at Level 29 add real value alongside her.

Journey of Nations: How to Get the Free 97-Rated Maradona

This is the biggest free reward in FC 26 right now and it has nothing to do with the paid Season Pass.

The Journey of Nations is a standalone objective system with its own tab in the objectives menu. Completing all regional Completionist objective groups across five continents unlocks a 97-rated Maradona Icon as the grand reward.

The five regions are: North America, Asia and Oceania, Africa, South America, and Europe. They are rolling out on a weekly schedule, with North America available from June 4. You cannot skip any region. All five must be completed to unlock Maradona.

How to Complete the North America Chapter Fast

Completing the North America Completionist set rewards you with:

  • Hugo Sanchez card (regional unlock)

  • 100 Tokens for the FOF Token Store

  • 60,000 coins

  • Multiple PTG player picks including Adams PTG 94, Oluwaseyi PTG 94, Ochoa PTG 93, Millar PTG 92, and others

The North America chapter has nine objective groups you must fully complete, including Haiti/Panama, Dempsey’s Journey, and the Mexico group. Here is the confirmed quickest method:

Phase 1 (roughly six games)

Use the 4-4-2 (2) formation. Build your squad around three Mexican players (Hero Marquez works for multiple tasks), six USA players (Dempsey is needed specifically for his objectives), and one Brazilian player.

Key tasks to complete in Phase 1:

  • Keep one clean sheet

  • Win six matches in total

  • Score a free kick with a Mexican player

  • Score six Low Driven goals with a USA player

  • Score one Low Driven goal specifically with Dempsey (double tap shoot)

  • Score a header with Marquez

  • Assist three goals with a through ball

  • Score seven goals

Phase 2 (roughly five games)

Switch to a squad with six Canadian players.

Key tasks:

  • Three wins in Rivals, Champions, or Live Events

  • Assist at least two goals in a single match

  • Score two Finesse Shot goals

  • Assist three goals with a lobbed through ball

Phase 3 (one to three games)
Rush mode focus. Include at least one North American player.

Key tasks:

  • Win one game by at least two goals

  • Score seven goals as a team in Rush

  • Assist five goals as a team in Rush

The Squad Battles difficulty requirement across several tasks is at least World Class. Live Events and Rivals count as alternatives for most match requirements, so you are not locked into Squad Battles if you want faster games.

The FOF Token Store: A Major Shift in How Rewards Work

Season 8 introduces a new Festival of Football Token Store that changes how rewards flow in FC 26 this season. Tokens are earned through objectives, rivals, Squad Battles, and live events. Many of the guaranteed pack rewards from those modes have been replaced by token accumulation, which you then spend in the store.

Journey of Nations objectives reward 20 Tokens per completed group. Completing the full North America chapter gives 100 Tokens. These stack across all five regional chapters, meaning a player who grinds all of Journey of Nations collects a significant token haul before Maradona is even in their club.

The token store’s full inventory has not been confirmed publicly yet at time of writing. EA Sports is expected to update the store contents through the season.

The 25 Nations Packs: Unknown but Potentially Worth Watching

Several 25 Nations Packs are scattered through the premium pass, appearing at least four times across the mid-to-late levels. EA has not provided a public breakdown of their contents yet. Given the Festival of Football theme and World Cup structure, these packs likely contain players from a specific group of nations, possibly tied to the World Cup’s North America host regions (Mexico, USA, Canada) or rotated by continent.

They are not possible to evaluate properly yet. If you are progressing through the premium pass, treat them as a bonus you will find out about in real time, not as a driving reason to buy.
