Everything in the Upcoming Schedule 1 Update: Lockers, Voting, and Cartels

In the latest Schedule 1 update, major changes were confirmed live on stream by the developer, Tyler. One of the most impactful changes is the complete removal of beds for employee management. Lockers will now serve as the replacement system. These metal lockers are more compact and will take up less space, while still allowing players to assign workers to specific units. The lockers also double as a form of storage, creating a flexible and efficient setup.
The overhaul doesn’t stop there. New functionality allows players to assign each worker to specific racks and configure exactly what items go where. This streamlines the gameplay loop and introduces better organizational control. These features are part of a broader employee system update expected to fully launch by the end of next week. The current beta includes faster save/load times and better handling of SteamCloud errors.
Voting System Launch and Upcoming Content Paths (Schedule 1 Update)
A major shift in development strategy is also coming to Schedule 1 — player voting. For the first time, players will directly influence the next major content expansion. Voting will take place in-game and the first round is set to begin in the first half of May. Three options are on the table:
A new psychedelic drug (shrooms)
A police expansion
A cartel-focused update
The winning option will be developed after the current employee overhaul is finalized. Tyler confirmed that this system will continue for future updates, giving players an active role in shaping the game’s direction.
Meanwhile, the new mansion property tied to the cartel storyline is already present in the game files. Although not yet purchasable, it will become a usable location in the future. Unlike traditional properties, it will follow a different acquisition method. Some players have already unlocked it early through unofficial methods.
Expanded Police Mechanics and World Progression
The upcoming police expansion aims to make law enforcement more reactive and formidable. Instead of a single static threat, the system will escalate based on player progress. Early in the game, players will only face local police. But as operations grow, tougher entities like a fictional DEA will intervene. Planned features include a police helicopter, increased patrols, and the addition of dirty cop interactions like bribery.
This system is meant to introduce more tension and risk to high-level play. While not yet fully implemented, Tyler confirmed that it remains a priority update and will evolve the current risk mechanics substantially.
Minigames, New Weapons, and Odd Jobs (Schedule 1 Update)
More content is also being built around side activities and mini-games. The first confirmed addition is a fishing mini-game, with players catching fish at Ry’s fishing hut. Rare drops, such as bricks of cocaine, may also be included. Another confirmed activity is a forklift mini-game, where players can earn money by loading pallets onto vehicles using the existing forklift system.
Weapons are also expanding. The current lineup of the revolver and M1911 will be joined by a new semi-auto pistol with a higher fire rate and more magazine capacity but slightly lower damage. Melee weapons like golf clubs, pool noodles, and tasers are also in development.
Additionally, Tyler hinted at odd job features such as car robbery, building break-ins, and mail theft. These activities are part of a larger effort to create more opportunities for player-driven “shenanigans.”
Long-Term Plans and Weather Effects
Looking further ahead, the game will introduce a dynamic weather system including rain, fog, and storms. This feature is scheduled to arrive sometime in late June or July after the current wave of updates. The intention is to add more environmental immersion and variability to gameplay.
With all these additions in motion — lockers, police rework, property changes, minigames, and a voting system — Schedule 1 is preparing for its most ambitious stage of development yet.
