DC has unveiled DCKO, a new 2v2 tag-team fighting game for mobile devices scheduled to launch in 2027. Developed by Drop Fake, the game will feature competitive online multiplayer, single-player content, and a growing roster of DC heroes and villains. However, the announcement has also renewed discussion among fans still hoping for an official reveal of Injustice 3.

DCKO Brings 2v2 Battles to Mobile

DCKO is built around a tag-team combat system that lets players assemble teams of DC characters and switch between them during fights.

According to the announcement, the game will include:

  • Online PvP multiplayer
  • Single-player game modes
  • Team-based 2v2 combat

The title is planned for iOS and Android, with a full release slated for 2027. Players can already preregister for the upcoming open beta, although an exact launch date has not yet been announced.

Creative director Gene Campbell said the development team wants to push mobile fighting games forward by emphasizing live multiplayer competition, describing online matches as a core part of the overall experience.

19 Fighters Confirmed So Far

The initial roster includes 19 confirmed characters, combining some of DC’s most recognizable heroes with several fan favorites from across the publisher’s universe.

Confirmed fighters include:

  • Batman
  • Superman
  • Wonder Woman
  • Zatanna
  • John Constantine
  • Blue Beetle
  • Katana

The developers also confirmed that additional characters will be revealed monthly leading up to the game’s release, expanding the roster over time.

DCKO Is Separate From the Injustice Series

Although DCKO shares the DC license and fighting game genre, it is not a continuation of the Injustice franchise.

The reveal has inevitably sparked fresh speculation about Injustice 3, a game that NetherRealm Studios has yet to announce. The studio released Injustice 2 in May 2017, following the events of Injustice: Gods Among Us, before shifting its focus to subsequent Mortal Kombat releases.

Since then, reports and community speculation about a third Injustice game have continued to circulate, but no official announcement has been made. As a result, any claims regarding Injustice 3 remain unconfirmed.

What Comes Next for DC Fighting Games?

While fans waiting for a new mainline Injustice entry will have to remain patient, DCKO gives DC another presence in the fighting game genre with a multiplayer-focused experience designed specifically for mobile devices. More information about its gameplay systems, additional fighters, and the open beta is expected ahead of its planned 2027 release, while the future of the Injustice series remains officially undisclosed.
