Black Ops Zombies: How to Unlock Pack-a-Punch in Shangri-La
Unlocking the Pack-a-Punch machine in Shangri-La is more complicated than on most Black Ops Zombies maps. Before you can upgrade your weapons, you’ll need to restore power and solve a pressure plate puzzle. Since the process resets after each use, players must repeat it every time they want to access the machine.
Here’s how to activate Pack-a-Punch in Shangri-La.
Turn On the Power
Your first objective is to restore electricity to the map.
Leave the starting area through either tunnel to reach the underground power station. Unlike most Zombies maps, Shangri-La features two power switches positioned side by side in the power room. Activate both switches to restore power and unlock the next step of the Pack-a-Punch puzzle.
Pressure Plate Locations
After the power is on, you’ll need to activate a series of pressure plates scattered across the map.
The four possible pressure plate locations are:
- Across from Quick Revive in the starting area.
- Inside the tunnel connecting the mine cart to the power room.
- Opposite the power switches inside the power station.
- Between the bridge and the tunnel leading toward the waterfall.
The number of active plates depends on your party size:
Players Active Pressure Plates Solo 1 2 Players 2 3 Players 3 4 Players 4In co-op, every active pressure plate must be occupied simultaneously to complete the puzzle.
How to Know the Puzzle Is Complete
Each pressure plate is linked to a nearby stone statue.
If part of the statue is still rotating, it means one or more required pressure plates have not been activated. Once every active plate is occupied, the statues stop moving, confirming that the puzzle has been completed successfully.
In multiplayer matches, communicating with teammates is essential to ensure everyone is standing on the correct plate.
Accessing the Pack-a-Punch Machine
Once the statues stop moving, return to the starting area and climb the temple stairs.
The Pack-a-Punch machine becomes available for roughly 30 to 45 seconds, giving you a limited window to upgrade your weapons. When the timer expires, rushing water sweeps players off the staircase, closing access to the machine.
If you want to Pack-a-Punch another weapon later in the match, you’ll need to repeat the entire pressure plate sequence before the temple reopens.
Because the puzzle must be completed every time, coordinating with teammates—or quickly activating the required plate in solo play—is key to making the most of Shangri-La’s Pack-a-Punch system.
