Call of Duty has pushed through a wave of surprise fixes and backend changes for Black Ops 7 and Warzone since Season 4 launched on June 4, 2026. Some of the issues being addressed have been sitting on player reports since Season 3, and PS5 owners in particular have been waiting a long time for one of these.

DMZ Mode: Full extraction reveal and “From the Ward” video deep-dives are still pending. Skip Old Gen: Plan hardware transitions early. Legacy platforms like the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are not supported.

Here is a full breakdown of what got fixed, what is still broken, what changed in Ranked Play, and what is coming next for COD.

The PS5 Stutter Fix PS5 Players Were Waiting For

If you play Black Ops 7 or Warzone on PS5 and your game has been stuttering, hitching, and feeling unplayable since around Season 3, this is the update you care about most.

Activision confirmed in a statement via @CODUpdates that both the May 28th update and the Season 4 launch update included major stability fixes targeting common visual stutter and hitching issues on PlayStation 5. The team says it will continue monitoring gameplay performance and stability going forward. Some players had been managing this with workarounds like setting streaming textures to minimal, but that was never a guaranteed fix. The official patch is now live.

The Warzone UAV Bug Is Still Happening

Your UAV is not broken. The game is.

COD Updates confirmed it is now “aware of and investigating” a bug where enemy players sometimes do not appear on the minimap after calling in a UAV. Reports suggest this happens mainly after certain zone collapses, where a standard UAV stops pinging enemies entirely. An Advanced UAV does not appear to trigger the same problem, but that still means spending 8,000 in-game cash on a standard UAV can give you absolutely nothing useful. No fix has been deployed yet, only an acknowledgment that it is being looked into.

Two Broken Attachments: One Fixed, One Still Bugged

This is a recurring issue in COD that keeps showing up every season, and Season 4 is no different.

What got fixed: A patch has gone live that resolves an issue preventing players from equipping the Redwell Shade Suppressor on the KRS-7.62 if the attachment was unlocked in a previous season. This affected Multiplayer, Warzone, and Zombies alike. The fix is now live.

What is still broken: The Vast Convergence Foregrip is bugged across all Season 4 weapons. If you unlocked it before Season 4, you cannot equip it on any of the new guns, whether that is the KRS-7.62, the CBRS-3, the VX Compact, or the Grimhawk. COD has confirmed they are investigating and a fix is coming, but no timeline has been given. For now, build around it or leave the slot open.

Ranked Play SR System Got a Backend Overhaul

Black Ops 7 Ranked Play received a major rework to how SR (Skill Rating) works in Season 4, and a backend update has since been deployed to make it function as intended.

The new system removes hidden MMR entirely and replaces it with full transparency over every point of SR gained or lost. Every match now shows a detailed after-action breakdown explaining exactly how your SR moved. Scoreboard bonuses are now awarded to players finishing first through fourth, and you earn larger SR gains for beating opponents ranked higher than you. Lose to someone ranked lower, and your SR loss goes up because you underperformed expectations. Base win reward is a flat +20 SR, while base loss deductions scale up the higher you climb, reaching -65 SR per loss at 20,000 SR and above.

Crimson players can also now party up in groups of four, up from two previously. Iridescent and Top 250 players remain capped at two-player parties.

Fortune’s Keep Got a Small But Meaningful Mini Update

Beyond the SR changes, a minor Warzone-specific patch dropped over the weekend and addressed a handful of issues directly tied to Fortune’s Keep, which returned as a refreshed map at the start of Season 4.

Three fixes went live:

  • Helicopter height cap on Fortune’s Keep restored. Players were flying far higher than intended, which gave a major positional advantage. That ceiling is back.

  • Invisible player glitch patched. If a player completed a Most Wanted Contract while mid-Advanced-Self-Revive, they would stay invisible for the rest of the match. That is now fixed.

  • Operator tab crash fixed. Selecting a random operator in the operator menu could crash the game when you returned to the play tab. No longer an issue.

Two Active Zombies Bugs to Know Before You Boot Up a Save

If you play Zombies regularly and rely on saved games, pay attention to these two.

First, COD is investigating reports that parts of the Nuke Survival map are being treated as out of bounds when loading from a saved game file. This only happens when loading into an existing save, not when starting fresh. Until a fix is confirmed, it is safer to start clean rather than continuing from a save in Nuke Survival.

Second, Theater Mode may crash when you try to load a recent match. Since Theater is almost always used to review the most recent game, this makes the feature effectively unusable right now for most players. A fix is being worked on, but no ETA has been given.

Ranked Leaderboards Are Temporarily Offline

A smaller note, but relevant for competitive players: the free-run leaderboards in Black Ops 7 have been temporarily taken offline for maintenance. COD says they will return, but no specific date has been confirmed.

Season 4 Also Brought a Bigger Anti-Cheat Change on PC

With the Season 4 launch, Activision also rolled out a new anti-cheat enforcement layer through RICOCHET. PC players who fail Microsoft Azure Attestation (MAA) checks are now placed into a separate matchmaking pool. Passing attestation requires TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot to be enabled on your system. Players who fail will be locked to Nuketown 24/7 in Black Ops 7 and Battle Royale Casual in Warzone, and will not be able to match with console players or players who passed attestation. AMD users running TPM software in the 3.x.0.x range may need a BIOS or firmware update to pass the check.

Modern Warfare 4 Is Real, It Has a Date, and There Is More Coming Soon

Outside of the live-game updates, Call of Duty dropped the official announcement for Modern Warfare 4, confirmed to launch on October 23, 2026, across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2 . PS4 and Xbox One are not supported.

The game’s new extraction mode, DMZ, got its first public gameplay glimpse at the Xbox Game Showcase on June 7, 2026, but Activision has confirmed that was only the initial announcement tease. A full DMZ reveal is still to come before launch, with more content expected through their “From the Ward” video series in the coming weeks. No beta date or COD Next event has been announced yet.
