After lagging behind on updates for some time, Larian Studios has finally caught up with Baldur’s Gate 3 updates on the XBOX platform. The studio just dropped Hotfix 22, which brings the XBOX edition up to date along with PC and PlayStation 5 editions of the game.
The XBOX versions (Series X and Series S) were initially held back due to an XBOX-exclusive crash bug. Larian Studios had to conduct additional testing to resolve crashes that could occur when suspending or switching games on the XBOX console.
Resolving Cross-Save Issues
Hotfix 22 enhanced the cross-save functionality for XBOX players. It allows users to sync and transfer game data across platforms smoothly. Players no longer face disruptions when trying to cross-save their progress.
Furthermore, Larian Studios has enhanced the communication regarding the synchronization and cross-saving processes. The update now informs users if a cross-save synchronization attempt has failed, providing them with the opportunity to retry the operation.
Crash Fixes and UI Improvements
Hotfix 22 also fixed several crashes and blockers affecting XBOX performance. It resolved crashes when suspending the game, loading another game, or accessing character conditions. The update improved overall stability on the XBOX platform.
Larian Studios has also made some quality-of-life improvements to the user interface (UI). The update prevents voice chat from overlapping the minimap in split-screen mode. It also fixes the “Another Player Is Joining” pop-up when the host has an open panel.
These changes improve the split-screen and multiplayer experience.
Companion Dialogue and Scripting Fixes
The hotfix resolved scripting issues and bugs with companion dialogues. It fixed a dialogue flow where Minthara unintentionally ended relationships with Dark Urge players rejecting Bhaal.
Additionally, Minthara has been updated to stop repeating her thoughts about Gale in Act III, resolving a recurring issue that annoyed some players.
Additionally, the update resolved issues with getting stuck in dangerous areas. It fixed dialogues ending abruptly when kissing romantic partners. It also addressed combat issues when sneaking into the Mind Flayer Colony.
Future Updates and Improvements
While Hotfix 22 brings the XBOX version of Baldur’s Gate 3 up to date, Larian Studios continues to work on improving the game. The studio has already released Hotfix 23, which addresses additional bugs, crashes, and issues impacting the overall experience.
