Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 7: Everything You Should Know

Bad news for all of the Baldur’s Gate 3 fans waiting for Patch 7 Closed Beta! A bug has pushed back the start date due to the discovery. But do not worry adventurers! This build also contains some interesting details on a future patch and how you can still join the Closed Beta.
Just a heads up that Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7 will only be available for testing in the Closed Beta on Steam for now. Don’t worry though, the plan is still to release it to everyone in September! By the way, some of the info we’re sharing about the patch might spoil some surprises, so tread carefully if you want to stay completely fresh!
New Enemy Abilities Revealed!
Things are about to get creepy crawly! If you fall into the spider pit, the evil Dror Ragzlin will use a new mind-control spell to make the spiders his allies, and speaking of tough enemies, some nasty bosses just got nastier. New hide: The giant metal worm (Bulette) has a tougher hide, and some brutal new attacks. The big bad tiefling Malus has a new legendary grab – move. Those creepy eyeball guys as spectators have a new panicky aura and a new spell to confuse your brain.
The githyanki villains also had some scheming in their sleeve. The Act II leader can sell someone’s soul for a power boost, while the other leader makes a new legendary move named after some powerful githyanki being. That mind flayer dude Ptaris got a new legendary action – looks like he’s gotten a little bit dogmatic! Be careful out there!
Interface and Bug Fixes!
Baldur’s Gate 3 has been working on some enhancements to the game so it feels simpler and smoother to use.
Here’s the rundown:
- The video settings were overhauled: They rearranged the video options so they’re easier and clearer to watch. Upscaling type and mode are both added via new dropdown menus, and there’s even a sharpness slider right there. Basically, all the compatible settings are grouped together for your convenience.
- It just got faster to react: You now simply need to choose the reactions you would like to use rather than repeatedly selecting “Do not react.” Saves time, gets you reacting faster!
- Controllers get an equipment boost: They also added a new Equipment Options menu to the character sheet on controllers for easier management of your gear.
- Giving magic to Gale made him smarter: The magic item donation menu now lists items from your chest as well as what Gale already has equipped. No more accidental double-donations!
- Washing up got a new name: There was some confusion around washing your character. So now instead of “Consume” soap, you’ll see “Use” a little more clearly.
- Bug in character creation fixed: Fixed a bug where if you made a Dream Guardian and then went to edit your character the name would revert to “Custom.” No more name changes on the surprise!
- Level Up – fix: Fixed a bug in which picking up a Feat would incorrectly display the appropriate spell ability when leveling up. Now you know the info to make the best decisions.
Gameplay
This update includes a lot of awesome stuff and fixes some nasty bugs as well – so you can enjoy your adventure!
Here’s new/fixed to make your adventure even more epic:
- Are you feeling Super Hardcore?: Now you can play with the brutal “Honour Mode” rules even in custom games! Pick it from the “Ruleset” dropdown once you start adventuring. Buckle up!
- Backup Arrived (Maybe): Do you remember that fishy friend who promised you an army? Well, they’ll go fight the final fight now (unless, well, they all died earlier).
- Helping Hand (Eventually!): The Gondo folks are late to the party, but they’re sending a Steel Watcher to battle you in the end. I am very sorry about the delay!
- Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow (But Not Really): Want to be bald with spiky eyebrows? Now you can! We squashed a bug that blocked your hair color choices when you chose a bald haircut.
- More Chatty Companions (Multiplayer!): More banter between characters in multiplayer: Prepare for some serious banter! We’ve made it so characters controlled by different players can have conversations now.
- Hide and Seek (But Not Summons): But now summons won’t use your sneaky tactics. If they aren’t in your party, they won’t benefit from the “Group Hide” ability.
- Camping Made Easier: No more wasting supplies! If you select items for a long rest, the game will take only what it needs.
- Shar Isn’t Having It: We plugged a cheap shortcut in the “Gauntlet of Shar” trial. But you can no longer just click the end platform and hope for the very best. Shar was not amused.
- Resurrection Shenanigans Fixed: Resurrected on the beach, Lae’zel will no longer be trapped in the spirit world. You can exit Act I now!
- Farewell, Ghostly Gale: Gale is finally free of his creepy aura. No more lingering necromantic vibes.
- Minthara Gets a Body (Back): Level up screens will no longer show Minthara as a floating head. We liked it a bit, but hey, something gotta go.
Performance Improvements!
They’re been busy making the game smoother! This is especially noticeable in really busy areas such as the Lower City where there are tons of characters. Load times and loot management (like clearing your camp chest) should also feel quicker. Essentially it’s a tune-up for the game to run faster behind the scenes!
An Enhanced Cinematic Experience!
Prepare to be even more sucked into Baldur’s Gate 3! They updated some of the game’s cutscenes and character animations also :
- A New View of Ansur’s Bones: The cutscene that plays when you approach Ansur’s bones in the Wyrmway has gotten a whole new look!
- Expressive Companions (and Maybe Even You!): Your companions will express their emotions more clearly than ever with subtle facial expressions during conversations. This includes your character’s face in some romantic scenes (wink wink nudge nudge).
Conclusion
That is all for that update! This is a taste of what is coming with Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7. We know you adventurers will want more, and there’s a lot more to bite on too.
