The Alchemax Headquarters map launches on May 29, 2026, as a new Doom Match arena — the second Doom Match map in the game alongside Sanctum Sanctorum. The map is tied directly into the Season 8 “Sins of Alchemax” storyline and features several distinct areas including the Main Gene Lab, Babylon Gardens, an infinity pool overlooking the Manhattan skyline, and a corporate containment site.
The season’s narrative sets up Alchemax as a corporation exploiting superhuman abilities for profit, with the map serving as a physical extension of that lore.
Cyclops: Confirmed for Season 8.5
Cyclops is officially confirmed as the 51st hero joining Marvel Rivals, set to release in Season 8.5. On the new map, players can spot Cyclops locked inside a containment chamber — a detail that fits the lore in which he’s been captured by Alchemax to power their experimental research.
His role has not been officially confirmed, but multiple sources predict he will be a Duelist, with abilities centered around optic blasts, including a continuous beam (alt fire), wide-angle blast, and a powerful ultimate where he removes his visor entirely. Season 8.5 is currently expected to launch in June 2026.
Moon Girl on the Alchemax Map
Moon Girl (Lunella Lafayette) also appears on the Alchemax HQ map as a non-playable character, shown at her desk where, according to the game’s lore, she was researching Alchemax’s technology and coordinating her escape with Devil Dinosaur. Her presence on the map is a lore detail rather than a confirmed addition to the playable roster.
Spider-Man 2099 (Miguel O’Hara) Referenced
The official map description for Alchemax HQ references Miguel O’Hara, describing it as “once the epicenter of Miguel O’Hara’s groundbreaking genetic research”. This is a direct nod to Spider-Man 2099’s comic book origins at Alchemax, though no playable appearance for the character has been confirmed at this time.
The Hood: Origins Comic Confirms Arrival
NetEase and Marvel Comics have officially announced Origins of the Hood: Marvel Rivals #1, going on sale August 5, 2026. The comic is written by Paul Allor with art by Francesco Archidiacono, and its cover art features the Hood wearing the Cloak of Oblivion — notably different from the cursed cloak he wears in mainline Marvel comics.
In the Marvel Rivals continuity, Parker Robbins stole this cloak following the prison break seen in the Lower Manhattan map, where it had previously been in Kingpin’s possession. The comic’s August 5 release date aligns with Season 9.5, which is expected to launch around August 14, 2026 — strongly hinting at the Hood’s playable debut during that update.
Gorr the God Butcher: Voice Lines Leaked, Then Removed
Earlier in May, data miners discovered voice lines referencing Gorr the God Butcher in Marvel Rivals’ game files, with heroes including Doctor Strange, Captain America, Spider-Man, Blade, and Adam Warlock all appearing to interact with the character. Shortly after these were surfaced publicly, all Gorr-related voice lines were removed from the files in a subsequent patch.
No official announcement has been made regarding Gorr as a playable character or map villain. His removal from the files after discovery is notable, but unconfirmed details about his future role should be treated as speculation.
Daredevil “Man Without Fear” Skin Updated
Following community feedback, the developers updated the Daredevil Man Without Fear costume — currently available through the in-game gacha event — to offer two key customization options:
Toggle between original comic-inspired billy clubs or the flaming variant
Turn off the flame effect entirely for a more comics-accurate look
Importantly, this is a client-side only toggle — other players in your game will still see the flames. This means no competitive visibility advantage is gained by disabling the effect.
New Skins Dropping This Week
Two new costumes are confirmed alongside the May 29 update:
Wolverine X2099 — an Epic-tier lore skin depicting a Wolverine clone created by Alchemax, tied directly into the Sins of Alchemax narrative
Black Cat “Formula R” Legendary costume — confirmed but not yet fully revealed at time of writing
Marvel Rivals Season 8 continues through July 10, 2026, with Season 8.5 expected to kick off in June 2026.
