Cyclops
• Roster ID: Hero 1063
• Release: June 12 at 9:00 AM UTC
• Role: Officially Unconfirmed
Expect high pick rates. Prioritize instant-locking him in casual queues on launch day to test his projectile tracking and potential Team-Up abilities. (Ray Chase)
• Consensus: High probability
• Echoes the current Disney+ X-Men ’97 vocal baseline.
None required. Enjoy the enhanced narrative continuity if you are a fan of the animated series. Maximizes universe immersion, aligning with NetEase’s pattern of hiring established X-Men ’97 voice talent for roster additions.Twitch Drops
(Wolverine Skin)
• Skin: Wolverine “Will of Galacta”
• Requirement: Stream watch-time milestones (30m to 4 hours).
Link your NetEase game profile to your Twitch account ahead of June 12. Leave eligible streams running in the background to clear the milestones. (Direct Reruns)
• Launch: Expected June 16
• Pricing: 1,600 to 2,200 Units
• Direct store purchase window.
Hoard Your Units: This is a strict, limited-time window. Check the store immediately on June 16 if you missed skins from Seasons 3 through 7. (Alchemax 2099)
• Magik: Corporate Raiders

A new hero, a possible free skin from Twitch, and the return of limited-time cosmetics all land in the same four-week window.
Cyclops Is the 51st Hero, and His Role Is Officially Still a Mystery
Scott Summers, better known as Cyclops, is confirmed as the Season 8.5 launch hero. He is the most requested X-Men addition since the game launched, and NetEase teased his arrival throughout the Season 8 storyline by making him a prisoner at Alchemax HQ, where the corporation used his optic blasts to power a Chronovium energy source.
His role has not been officially confirmed by NetEase. The community is split between Duelist and Strategist. The case for Duelist is his height on the Alchemax map model, which puts him at around 6’2″. Every current male Vanguard in the game stands taller, making that category unlikely. The case for Strategist comes from a detail spotted by players: the Chronovium he powers appears to show a plus symbol in the middle, which matches the healing indicator used throughout the rest of the game’s UI. On top of that, his ability to demobilize enemies in the trailer and his use of optic blasts to reposition himself mid-fight feel more like a support-adjacent kit than a pure damage dealer.
Fans also noted that kinetic energy is a mechanic already in the game through Gambit, who is a Strategist, and Cyclops’s lore ties directly to energy redirection. None of this is confirmed. NetEase has not announced his kit. Whatever his role turns out to be, expect the full reveal with the Season 8.5 patch notes on launch day.
What Players Think His Kit Will Look Like
Based on trailer footage and lore context, the community expects Cyclops to have:
A sustained optic beam as his primary attack
A ricochet or bounce mechanic on his blasts
A movement ability powered by his own eye beams, letting him reposition by firing downward or sideways
A push or knockback tool on his normal attacks
At least one team-up ability with existing X-Men on the roster, likely Wolverine, Rogue, or Phoenix
Is Ray Chase Voicing Cyclops?
Strong community consensus, based on the Season 8 trailer audio, points to Ray Chase as the voice actor. Chase currently voices Cyclops in X-Men ’97 on Disney Plus. Several other X-Men ’97 cast members have already been confirmed to be working on Marvel Rivals, which makes Chase a logical fit. NetEase has not officially confirmed this.
Every Confirmed Skin Coming in Season 8.5
The Alchemax 2099 storyline brings a dedicated skin wave tied to the season’s Corporate Raiders theme. Three costumes have been confirmed via official gallery cards:
Magik gets a 2099 Alchemax Corporate Raiders costume
Rogue gets a 2099 Alchemax Corporate Raiders costume, first teased in the Season 7 gallery card
Psylocke gets a new 2099-themed skin
All three were previewed together in the “Hostile Takeover” gallery card released during Season 8. Psylocke has received consistent skin treatment across every season with unique effects and recolors, so expect this one to land at Legendary tier.
Wolverine Will of Galacta: The Season 8.5 Twitch Drop
During Season 8.0, the Twitch Drop rewards included a Wolverine Will of Galacta Nameplate. NetEase has followed a consistent pattern of dropping character nameplates before announcing the matching Will of Galacta skin for that character. The same pattern played out with Rogue, Daredevil, Daredevil, and Ultron in prior seasons.
Following that pattern, the Wolverine Will of Galacta costume is expected to be the featured Twitch Drop skin when Season 8.5 goes live. Based on the nameplate teaser, the color scheme is expected to be purple and blue.
To earn it, watch Marvel Rivals streams with Drops Enabled on Twitch for milestone watch-time intervals starting at 30 minutes and going up to four hours.
The 616 Vault Returns: Your Shot at Missed Skins
Right at the start of Season 8.5, NetEase is expected to run the 616 Vault event, timed around June 16 (Earth-616 Day). The event ran for the first time in June 2025 as a one-week window where previously vaulted, time-limited cosmetics came back to the store for direct purchase.
Last year’s 616 Vault brought back six bundles for characters including Rocket Raccoon, Hawkeye, Captain America, Groot, Venom, and Magik, priced between 1,600 and 2,200 Units. The specific returning skins for 2026 have not been announced yet, but NetEase has released far more limited-time bundles over the past year, so the selection will likely be bigger.
Once the window closes, those skins go back into the vault with no confirmed return date. If there is a skin from Season 3 through Season 7 that you missed, this is the week to check the store.
Path to Doomsday: Age of Ultron Is the Next Chapter
Marvel Rivals officially revealed the Path to Doomsday event series as a multi-phase MCU-inspired storyline running through 2026. Phase one launched with a Battle of New York game mode built around Loki. The next phase, centered on the Age of Ultron, is confirmed to be part of Season 8.5.
No specific details about the game mode format have been released, but the Path to Doomsday series has consistently delivered new limited-time modes, MCU movie-inspired cosmetics, Time Square redesigns, and free rewards including sprays, gallery cards, and Units for completing in-mode actions.
Based on the Age of Ultron theme, players are expecting MCU skins for characters who appeared in the film, with Ultron himself as the most likely new cosmetic addition.
Lore Teasers: Spider-Man 2099 and Season 9 Heroes
The Alchemax HQ map contains multiple references to Miguel O’Hara (Spider-Man 2099), shown as a missing person and a wanted figure within the Alchemax facility. Whether he becomes a standalone hero or an alternate skin for the existing Spider-Man is still open. His design in the map assets is based on the default Spider-Man model, which has not settled the debate.
The final gallery card of Season 8 is expected to reveal the two hero additions planned for Season 9, following the same reveal pattern used in every previous season. The community currently suspects The Hood (a Vanguard, based on prior leaks, who has shown up in the Rivals Infinity Comics) and Jubilee as the Season 9 additions, but nothing is confirmed.
A Shenlong Tournament map set on Kunlun has also appeared in leaks alongside confirmed teasers for Groot and Black Widow cosmetics tied to the tournament storyline. That map and those skins are expected to surface during Season 8.5 or early Season 9.
