Marvel Rivals Dev Update: All Season 2 Changes Explained

Season 2 of Marvel Rivals begins with high hopes. After the events of the Eternal Night saga and Dracula’s defeat, Emma Frost invites all heroes to Krakoa for the annual Hellfire Gala. The island celebration, set in a mutant paradise, is meant to bring peace and glamour. However, that peace is short-lived. Ultron crashes the gala, forcing heroes into battle once again. Keep reading for more on the latest Marvel Rivals Dev Update.
Emma Frost takes center stage as a powerful presence. She switches between her telepathic skills and her diamond form depending on the need. Her combat versatility ensures that she remains dominant in battle. Ultron’s arrival signals more threats to come throughout the new season.
Team-Up Abilities Get Major Changes
The Marvel Rivals development team has announced the first major round of team-up updates. These changes include new pairings and the removal of some older ones. The team stated that the goal is to refresh the tactical possibilities available to players.
Since launch, developers have monitored player feedback on social media. They’ve reflected on how the game can deliver on its promise—letting players live out Marvel hero fantasies. One of the answers lies in new game modes. These are currently in internal testing and will release later as special events.
Big changes are also planned for Season 3. From that point forward, each season will last two months. One new hero will debut each month. The ranked system will be updated as well, with full details arriving before Season 3 begins.
Mission System Improvements and Customization Options
Many players couldn’t complete their battle passes in Season 1. The developers identified that unclear mission design was the problem. To address this, they are adding weekly missions to go with the existing daily ones. Token distribution is also being rebalanced across all missions. The total number of Chrono Tokens will stay the same, but players will find it easier to reach their goals.
Season 2 also expands customization options. New color variants are coming for popular costumes. Players can also send costumes to their friends using the new gifting system. This addition aims to improve social interactions within the game.
Network protocols are receiving upgrades. These improvements will boost performance but will also make older replays incompatible. Players who want to keep replays from Season Zero or Season 1 need to save them locally before the season starts.
Competitive Play: Ranks, Maps, and Tournament Hints (Marvel Rivals Dev Update)
Marvel Rivals’ developers have competitive play in mind this season. Tournament plans are underway. The game will offer top factions and skilled players a place to compete and show off their strategies.
All ranks are resetting for Season 2. Each player will drop nine divisions from their final rank in Season 1.5. For example, someone who ended at Diamond 1 will begin Season 2 at Silver 1.
The ranked map pool is also changing. Hellfire Gala Krakoa joins the rotation, while Yasca Royal Palace and Tokyo 2099 Shimshua are being removed. Quick Match and custom lobbies will still include all maps.
The developers are also adjusting how ranked matchmaking works. The minimum level to enter competitive mode is increasing. Pick-and-ban phases will now begin at Gold III instead of Diamond. For players in Eternity or One Above All, only duo queueing is allowed.
Match scoring will now factor individual performance more heavily. Players who perform well will earn more points from wins and lose fewer from defeats.
