Nvidia is really pushing their new GPU, the GeForce GTX 980. They have decided to promote it in style, by setting a Guinness World Record for the largest screen used in a video game competition. Nvidia had to travel to Churchill Downs, home of the Kentucky Derby, to find the largest 4K screen available.
Recommended VideosAt 91 feet tall and 171 feet wide, Louisville, Kentucky is home to the worlds largest 4K screen. The screen boasts a 4096 by 2160 resolution. Nvidia claims that one card could cover the massive resolution, but they wanted the game on the highest settings possible. So they chose to run with two GTX 980’s, paired together with an SLI connection.
Justin Munoz and Tom Lounsbury were brought together to compete on the huge screen. The game of choice was Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. With a significant amount of cable and set up time, the players were able to compete for their very own gaming rig built around the new card. Twitch broadcast the event with the help of hosts Marcus “djWHEAT” Graham and Justin “TheGunrun” Ignacio. Congratulations, Nvidia!
