Cris Tales is delayed to early 2021, developer Dreams Uncorporated said. The challenges of making what amounts to three games in one during the COVID-19 pandemic have proven too much, and the team needs extra time to deliver a game they’re satisfied with.

Cris Tales pulls from time-traveling RPG classic Chrono Trigger and takes place in three eras, and Dreams Uncorporated CEO Carlos Rocha Silva said the team is dedicated to making them feel alive and distinct.

People and areas must be created at least three times. It’s like developing three different video games at the same time. Three video games that must be impeccable so that we can deliver all the magic we have in our soul to all of you.

Silva said the development team also wants to implement feedback received from the Cris Tales demo. The delay will help them make the narrative and delivery as polished as possible.

There’s no solid time frame for Cris Tales‘ 2021 release date, but the team is holding a Reddit AMA (ask me anything) on October 16 at 3 p.m. EST/12 p.m. PST to answer any questions fans have. The upcoming JRPG was originally set to release on November 17 for PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Stadia. Stay tuned to GameSkinny for more Cris Tales news as it develops.
