In the midst of all the negative coronavirus news, there are a few shining nuggets of positivity out there. Niantic is making it easier to play Pokemon GO at and around your home, so you can still catch Pokemon in AR.

Niantic made the statement to Polygon. In the statement, Niantic said it is:

Prioritizing updates to Pokemon GO features and experiences that can be enjoyed in individual settings.

While we’ve made these updates based on the current global health situation, we also encourage players to make decisions on where to go and what to do that are in the best interest of their health and the health of their communities.

Habitats are getting changed about so you’ll find more Pokemon closer to home. Incense — items that make increase the number of Pokemon you come across — is getting a steep 99% discount in the in-game store, and its effect time was increased to one hour.

Eggs will hatch in half the time, and PokeStops are dropping gifts more frequently as well. However, there’s no word yet on how this might affect March’s Pokemon GO events and Raids.

Still, it’s one positive note among the discord of coronavirus delays and cancellations. And we’re quite sure staying home won’t dampen Uncle Pokemon’s enthusiasm at all.
