Spec-wise, the Steam Machine has been designed to be on par with an entry level PC. For the console users out there, this puts it roughly on the same level as a base PlayStation 5 when it comes to performance. Like a PC though, you will be able to download third-party software onto the Machine, such as other gaming platforms like Epic Games or GOG. This means you can create a fully unique Steam Machine software-wise if you fancy. Finally, it's worth noting that any game with anti-software requiring kernel-level access can not be played on the Steam Machine.
