Crimson Desert has shared a summer roadmap for new content and feature updates, and a big DLC is now in development at Pearl Abyss
Crimson Desert continues to grow and evolve following both financial success and player feedback, simultaneously squashing issues and adding more content to a game that was already dense at launch. Now, Pearl Abyss has confirmed the plans for this summer and beyond, including an actual piece of DLC.
A new developer update has revealed a roadmap of sorts which starts in June and ends around September, even if specific dates weren't shared. The updates are prepared "to be enjoyable both for those who have spent many hours in Pywel and for those who are just beginning their journey," also underlining most of them are based on the feedback shared by players.
The most surprising announcement concerns the story, which has been regularly criticised since the game launched. "To further strengthen the narrative flow of Kliff's journey and to make it more engaging, we are working to refine and improve the coherence of key scenes," the dev update said. It's unclear at this point how the story will be reworked, but it's interesting to see Pearl Abyss tackling that aspect of the game head-on instead of moving on or expanding on Kliff's character through future content.

A new phase - yet to be detailed - will bridge the gap before and after enemy blockades. Players will also be able to defend certain forts and strongholds from invaders in exchange for rewards. Outside of those points of interest, all-new combat-focused content is in the works. Similarly, Damiane and Oongka (the other two playable characters) are getting further improvements so they "can get a share of the spotlight".
Finally, quality-of-life improvements will be coming to trading, farming, and other non-combat activities so life in Pywel stays balanced. All this will be topped with cross-saves which allow players to "share save files across platforms" in the near future.
Those hoping for DLC details will have to wait a bit longer though. While Pearl Abyss confirmed it's now in development, it's been teased as "a meaningful addition to your journey" and nothing more. The expectation is this will be Crimson Desert's first paid post-launch content drop.
