It just wouldn't be E3 without Nintendo, and while the Japanese giant has a diminished presence it's still demoing what's set to be one of the highlights of the show. We'll be seeing plenty of the new Zelda, a little on Pokémon and hopefully a little more besides. Join us here from 5pm BST to see it all unfold.

Our live coverage of this event has finished.

15:01 pm UTC One hour to go, and I am pumped.

– Martin Robinson

15:02 pm UTC (Full of coffee in a vain attempt to stir from this awful E3 slumber I'm in right now after two nights that have dragged on to 5am).

– Martin Robinson

15:04 pm UTC I do love Zelda and his pointy green hat. He is my favourite Nintendo.

– Martin Robinson

15:05 pm UTC Anyway, I'm going to spend the next 30 minutes playing my 3DS in an attempt to wake myself.

– Martin Robinson

15:47 pm UTC I feel a bit smug as I'm currently playing one of the games that's going to be in this conference/show.

– Martin Robinson

15:47 pm UTC Sorry, I'm awful.

– Martin Robinson

15:48 pm UTC 12 MINOOOOTS.

– Martin Robinson

15:48 pm UTC

megatronix: Re Zelda: I'm from Poland, and we did not had nes or snes there ( ther then korean nes pirate called Pegasus, with completely wicked names, sometimes even completely misused ), but I was lucky, and got snes from my wanderful, but unfortunately now late, grandmother, and i got ALTTP. But it was in German and I couldn't understand a word! So I have created my own mythos for this game as a kid. That was fun! Now I'm grown up, and trying myself in game design, and bringing up the mythos back!

This is a beautiful story!

– Martin Robinson

15:52 pm UTC

rock27gr: Or even better Reggie's?

Reggie's nipples are definitely, definitely pierced. Steel rods right through those things.

– Martin Robinson

15:52 pm UTC Seeing as Everything is Dads at this year's E3, I wonder if Nintendo's gone a similar direction with Zelda.

– Martin Robinson

15:53 pm UTC Dads and grappling hooks! Hello all!

– Christian Donlan

15:54 pm UTC I was trying to sum up trends, BTW, rather than kick off a new Captain Haddock-style catchphrase.

– Christian Donlan

15:54 pm UTC Dads and Grappling Hooks! Whatever next? Etc.

– Christian Donlan

15:59 pm UTC I wish your dad worked at Nintendo.

– Christian Donlan

16:01 pm UTC We're up and running.

– Martin Robinson

16:04 pm UTC I just saw Link's nipples. Just sayin'.

– Martin Robinson

16:05 pm UTC Also, tameable horses, climbing rockfaces and, most excitingly, twitching deer ears.

– Martin Robinson

16:05 pm UTC Hit-pause confirmed!

– Christian Donlan

16:05 pm UTC And Link's right handed? Sacrilege.

– Martin Robinson

16:05 pm UTC An old, beaten-up Master Sword glimpsed too - this seems to be late in the Zelda timeline.

– Martin Robinson

16:06 pm UTC I was watching Obama on Jimmy Fallon, and I think he's left-handed.

– Christian Donlan

16:06 pm UTC The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

– Martin Robinson

16:06 pm UTC I appreciate this isn't relevant.

– Christian Donlan

16:07 pm UTC Love that nod to LTTP at the very end.

– Christian Donlan

16:07 pm UTC A huge open world - and they're only showing a small section during today's stream.

– Martin Robinson

16:08 pm UTC

vert1go: I think shirtless diving Link won the E3 nipplewatch.

Don't forget Norman Reedus and his little foetus. He brought some big nipples. We'll do a face-off later this week.

– Martin Robinson

16:08 pm UTC Before we see more Zelda, we're going to see some Pokemon Sun and Moon.

– Martin Robinson

16:08 pm UTC And yeah, Team Rowlet all day every day.

– Martin Robinson

16:08 pm UTC Perfect time to announce a Drilldozer reboot.

– Christian Donlan

16:09 pm UTC You tell us.

– Christian Donlan

16:11 pm UTC Oh man, poor Popplio. He can't catch a break.

– Martin Robinson

16:11 pm UTC Professor Kukui is so goddamn hench.

– Martin Robinson

16:13 pm UTC Heliocentric Pokemon model confirmed.

– Christian Donlan

16:13 pm UTC Is Pokemon set on Earth anyway?

– Christian Donlan

16:13 pm UTC If only Tom Phillips was here to tell us.

– Christian Donlan

16:14 pm UTC The Zelda trailer is about to hit the site.

– Martin Robinson

16:15 pm UTC

Trendyninja: Who would have thought Pokemon would have so much time devoted to it.

It's Nintendo's biggest game of the year.

– Martin Robinson

16:16 pm UTC A word of warning if you're just here for Zelda - I think we're going to linger on Pokemon for a little while.

– Martin Robinson

16:16 pm UTC The fact you're not typing Pokémon with its proper accent means I'm not going to tell you, Martin.

– Tom Phillips

16:16 pm UTC This is a Treehouse - not a Direct, not a conference - and they take things slowly.

– Martin Robinson

16:19 pm UTC How much was she paid to pretend she picked Popplio?

– Christian Donlan

16:19 pm UTC Sorry, Tom. And thanks for typing that out so I can copy and paste the accent. *Pokémon* it is.

– Martin Robinson

16:27 pm UTC

MrTomFTW: I think Martin, Christian and Tom have fallen asleep.

Ha, actually I'm just watching the Zelda trailer again.

– Martin Robinson

16:29 pm UTC Hope you get well soon, @megatronix!

– Christian Donlan

16:31 pm UTC Hope that wasn't a Game of Thrones spoiler, @ecco.

– Christian Donlan

16:31 pm UTC Probably my favourite thing about the new Zelda is how it so fully evokes the NES original.

– Martin Robinson

16:31 pm UTC The art-style is pulled straight from the manual, the more open-ended design from the game itself.

– Martin Robinson

16:31 pm UTC I don't want to talk too much about it yet as I don't want to disrespect Pokémon - which looks ace.

– Martin Robinson

16:32 pm UTC

MrTomFTW: I have a true fucked-up clown story. If you ever corner me at a show, ask me and I'll tell you :D Anyway, fuck clowns. Even seal clowns.

Now seems as good a time as any...

– Martin Robinson

16:32 pm UTC I just watched the Zelda trailer again. Nintendo remain the only game makers in the world who know how to deploy an accordion in a soundtrack. Respect.

– Oli Welsh

16:33 pm UTC Nothing funny about a Popplio after midnight.

– Christian Donlan

16:34 pm UTC

MrTomFTW: Oh God, am I really going to type this clown story out? It's quite long...

We've got plenty of time 'til Zelda's up again.

– Martin Robinson

16:36 pm UTC

Riice: There's a schedule on the Nintendo site: 9:00 AM PTReggie Kicks Off E3 2016 for Nintendo 9:15 AM PTPokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon 10:00 AM PTThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Introduction 12:25 PM PTThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - 'The NES Connection' 2:10 PM PTThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - 'Beyond the Plateu' Gameplay

This is very useful, thanks.

– Martin Robinson

16:37 pm UTC

MrFlay: Zelda is back at 6pm?

Yup, 6pm and 8.25pm.

– Martin Robinson

16:41 pm UTC MrTomFTW, I salute you for making this all more bearable.

– Martin Robinson

16:48 pm UTC Everyone has just left the office.

– Martin Robinson

16:49 pm UTC It's just me, on my own.

– Martin Robinson

16:49 pm UTC And this stream.

– Martin Robinson

16:49 pm UTC Ulp. Daughter almost home so I'm off too! Love to all!

– Christian Donlan

16:49 pm UTC Enjoy Zelda, everyone!

– Christian Donlan

16:50 pm UTC

richielaa: Whiskey Martin.....Whiskey

Ooooooh, well - I do have a hipflask with some bourbon in my bag. Not that I've got a problem or anything. I've just got some whiskey.

– Martin Robinson

16:51 pm UTC The Zelda section is being prepped. Ten minutes to go 'til the main event.

– Martin Robinson

16:58 pm UTC And here we go (damn you for trolling me MrTomFTW!)

– Martin Robinson

16:59 pm UTC (But thanks for the clown story and the nipples and everything else).

– Martin Robinson

16:59 pm UTC This Zelda's all about breaking the conventions of Zelda.

– Martin Robinson

17:00 pm UTC Loading....

– Martin Robinson

17:00 pm UTC Hopefully those load times will be slightly shorter on the NX.

– Martin Robinson

17:00 pm UTC LINK'S NIPPLES!

– Martin Robinson

17:01 pm UTC Wait, does he even have nipples?

– Martin Robinson

17:01 pm UTC This is the very start of the game, with Link waking up in an almost sci-fi environment.

– Martin Robinson

17:02 pm UTC A fully-voiced Zelda, it seems, but Link remains mute.

– Martin Robinson

17:03 pm UTC You can play this new Zelda nude, if you want.

– Martin Robinson

17:03 pm UTC That's my takeaway. Well, I think I played Twilight Princess fully nude as well, but I don't think it's quite the same.

– Martin Robinson

17:04 pm UTC There's loot and armour and full load-outs.

– Martin Robinson

17:05 pm UTC The logo, while harking back to the original NES game, also has a strong Nausicaa/Ghibli vibe.

– Martin Robinson

17:05 pm UTC As does the soundtrack, which could almost be Joe Hisaishi.

– Martin Robinson

17:06 pm UTC There's a stamina bar - which featured in some small way in Skyward Sword - and scaleable environments.

– Martin Robinson

17:07 pm UTC

rock27gr: I don't know if I like this newfangled voice-acting thingy

I think it's being used sparingly. I still prefer the old text approach, for sure.

– Martin Robinson

17:08 pm UTC Well, this is certainly a stronger opening to a Zelda than that of Twilight Princess. Not a goat to be herded.

– Martin Robinson

17:09 pm UTC I'm just waiting for this old man to say 'It's dangerous to go alone...'

– Martin Robinson

17:10 pm UTC

vert1go: Is this a prequel?

It looks more like a very late Zelda game, with everything in ruin.

– Martin Robinson

17:10 pm UTC Haha, I fell for that...

– Martin Robinson

17:10 pm UTC This is a proper sandbox Nintendo game, which is what really fascinates me.

– Martin Robinson

17:11 pm UTC Holy holy the Koroks from Wind Wakers return.

– Martin Robinson

17:13 pm UTC

vert1go: I'd like all of those people whining about how the world was going to be lifeless and empty to come here, right now.

In fairness to them, the Zelda they showed back then looked very, very different to this one.

– Martin Robinson

17:13 pm UTC Zelda bombshell: rupees and hearts no longer come out of grass.

– Tom Phillips

17:13 pm UTC Weapon durability is in.

– Martin Robinson

17:14 pm UTC The absence of hand-holding is impressive.

– Martin Robinson

17:14 pm UTC Discovery of systems seems organic.

– Martin Robinson

17:16 pm UTC

Kami: It does feel Souls-y.

Souls games always felt like what Zelda could have evolved into, if Nintendo took a different path.

– Martin Robinson

17:17 pm UTC This looks like a beaten-down peahat to me.

– Martin Robinson

17:18 pm UTC I'd happily take a Nintendo Light Souls.

– Martin Robinson

17:20 pm UTC The demo just timed out - so I think that suggests there's a brief 15-minute window on the E3 demo.

– Martin Robinson

17:20 pm UTC Bill Trinen looks like he's about to vomit.

– Martin Robinson

17:22 pm UTC Trinen's relying on his art degree to get him through the cock-up.

– Martin Robinson

17:23 pm UTC Run, Link, run! They're desperately trying to catch up with where they were before the demo time limit kicked in.

– Martin Robinson

17:27 pm UTC Bill Trinen's lost it.

– Martin Robinson

17:28 pm UTC We're just being told you might have to reinstall Miitomo after deleting it two days after launch as there's some Zelda stuff coming.

– Martin Robinson

17:29 pm UTC Someone give Bill a hug while the cameras are off.

– Martin Robinson

17:33 pm UTC I think that's it for a short while. Hopefully we'll be able to bring you more on Zelda shortly.

– Martin Robinson

18:04 pm UTC Apologies for the silence. Anyway, here's our in-depth Zelda preview from Tom, who got to play it on Sunday. Lucky sod.

– Martin Robinson

18:08 pm UTC We're logging off in the Brighton office to head to the pub. But! Over in LA things are just getting started.

– Martin Robinson

18:09 pm UTC For now, and from us here in the UK, it's TARA!

– Martin Robinson
