After weeks of anticipation, Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders officially went live in the US at 12am EST on 24th April 24 / 9pm PST on 23rd April, with major retailers like Walmart and Target kicking things off. Yet, pre-ordering was anything but easy, and everything is already out of stock, and some users even experiencing their order being cancelled after purchase.

Games and accessories are also up for pre-order in the US, and we've included direct links below for anyone looking to try their luck and lock in their reservation in the US today, but good luck. The only retailer left for online orders is GameStop, expected to go live at 11 am EST / 8 am PST / 4 pm BST.

The UK already got in early for pre-orders, live on 8th and 9th April, though some retailers listed stock as early as the 2nd. Most of that stock has already sold through. So if you're in the US and thinking about holding off, bear in mind: availability may not last long, particularly for the bundle.

Priced at £395.99 / $450, Switch 2 marks Nintendo's most premium console yet, but also one of its most technically ambitious. Judging by early demand from other regions, consumer appetite is high—and the US rollout is expected to follow suit.

Availability will vary between now and June 5, but Nintendo is still aiming for a wide release, with more stock expected ahead of launch. Those looking to secure a console are advised to act early, as shortages closer to release remain a possibility.

Nintendo has also acknowledged unexpectedly high demand in Japan, casting doubt on consistent Switch 2 stock levels worldwide ahead of its 5th June release.

Company president Shuntaro Furukawa revealed this morning that over 2.2 million people had applied to buy a Switch 2 via the My Nintendo Store lottery - "far exceeding expectations" and the number of consoles available at launch. Furukawa issued a stark warning: supply will be limited, and demand will likely outstrip availability. It's a telling sign of what other regions may soon face.

This month saw significant pre-order activity in the UK, particularly through Amazon UK and Argos, but stock has been quickly depleted. At the time of publication, Nintendo is still inviting folk to pre-order via invite, and has opened up pre-orders for everything else on its store as well.
