Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls' single-player mode, Episode Mode, has been written by legendary comic writer and former games journalist, Kieron Gillen.

Episode Mode features five unique stories, "each brought to life by a different artist and following a different team as they face the looming threat of the Champion".

Episode Mode is the game's primarily single-player mode, and features a unique storyline for each of the five teams, finishing up in boss battles against the Promoter and the Champion. You can catch a snippet in the teaser below:

Guilty Gear developer Arc System Works unveiled new tag team fighter Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls last year.

Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls' full launch roster has now been confirmed: Storm, Magik, Wolverine, Danger, Spider-Man, Ms. Marvel, Star-Lord, Peni Parker, Captain America, Iron Man, Black Panther, Hulk, Doctor Doom, Magneto, Green Goblin, Carnage, Ghost Rider, Blade, Deadpool, and Loki.

Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is currently blocked in over 100 countries, once again due to Sony's controversial PSN linking requirement, but is expected to release on PC and PS5 on 6th August, 2026.
