Update: Tesco has responded to Eurogamer by confirming its pricing for Mario Kart 7 as £29.90 until Sunday - making it, for now at least, the cheapest place to buy the game in UK shops. From Monday, it will be £32.70.

Original story:

Asda has the cheapest in-store price for 3DS racer Mario Kart 7, which roars into UK shops today. The supermarket has a price of £29.97 - a fraction less than the Morrisons price of £29.99.

The cheapest place online is Zavvi, where the game costs £26.96 when you use the code "MARIO10".

Should that offer stop working, TheGameCollection is next cheapest at £28.99.

Sainsbury's will sell you Mario Kart 7 for the low price of £21.99, providing you buy another top 20 3DS title at the same time (except another copy of Mario Kart 7 - we've checked).

Those looking for an extra stocking filler may like The Hut's offer of Mario Kart 7 plus Mario-themed in-ear headphones for £32.95.

We're still trying to find out Tesco's price - all the stores we spoke to this morning had yet to receive copies, or pricing information.

Eurogamer's Mario Kart 7 3DS review awarded a handsome 8/10. "Conservative: yes. Enduring: absolutely," declared reviewer Simon Parkin.
