Fresh off a trip to Illinois back in May, American Truck Simulator devs SCS Software have revealed another expansion they've got in the works. North Dakota's on the way as the big rig roadtrip continues to gradually make its way eastwards.

"Deliver cargo to major cities including Fargo, Bismarck, Grand Forks, Minot, and Williston, while also discovering charming settlements such as Medora, home to the spectacular Theodore Roosevelt National Park," reads the DLC's description. "Along your route, you'll encounter memorable landmarks including the towering World's Largest Buffalo in Jamestown, the remarkable sculptures of the Enchanted Highway, the impressive Four Bears Bridge near New Town, the Scandinavian Heritage Park in Minot, and the striking North Dakota State Capitol in Bismarck."

While there'll be a lot of dragging oil industry and agricultural cargoes across rolling prairies, I'm reasonably confident those landmarks will help trucking through North Dakota stand out a bit from ATS' established rural/big sky states. Since you can see for miles, a bunch of lofty sculptures and art installations have been plonked down by the roadsides. The giant buffalo and catfish - the latter of which is dubbed Wahpper - shown in the trailer are two, but unmentioned and unseen thus far to my eye is Salem Sue, a giant cow that's 38 feet tall and can be seen for five miles.

As ever with freshly revealed SCS DLCs, North Dakota's not got a release date yet. It joins South Dakota, Indiana, and British Columbia on the ever-stocked list of ATS expansions in the works. The latter's the one I'm most keen to give a go, since it's both ATS' first foray into Canada and a province that'll beef up the Pacific Northwest bit of the map, which I tend to use as a base/HQ since it offers a nice starting point for lengthy trips south down the coast or inland.
