Agent Story: Mole in the Hole

In Mole in the Hole, Soldier 11 is tasked with uncovering a mole within the New Eridu Defence Force. This mole has been leaking information to a nearby rebel faction, and her mission is to use the mole to locate and eliminate the rebels. To accomplish this, Soldier 11 pretends to defect, creating an opportunity to infiltrate the mole’s network and gain their trust.

Story Summary

To ensure the success of her mission, Soldier 11 enlists the help of a proxy (the player), who assumes the identity of Faithin, a well-known proxy. Shephard, an intelligence officer, informs Soldier 11 that the proxy is also recognized as Crimson Twilight, a skilled wanderer. The mole, known as Mr. Mole, insists that Soldier 11 must prove her loyalty by working alone, testing her commitment before revealing sensitive information.

As part of the test, Mr. Mole instructs both Soldier 11 and the proxy to deploy transmitters around the area. As they carry out this task, the mole begins to suspect the proxy, leading to a tense exchange. Eventually, it is revealed that Shephard’s intelligence network has been compromised, making the operation even more dangerous.

The rebels, working alongside Mr. Mole, jam communications, cutting off the Defence Force from reinforcements. The proxy is forced to re-establish a new communication network, allowing the Defence Force to regroup and launch an offensive. Soldier 11, who has an unwavering hatred for traitors, fights alongside the proxy to eliminate the rebels and track down Mr. Mole.

During the confrontation, it is discovered that multiple people have been using the alias “Faithin”, adding another layer of intrigue to the mission. Despite the intensity of the operation, Soldier 11 remains focused and disciplined. As the mission concludes, she mentions stopping for a bowl of spicy noodles, a rare moment of personal indulgence.

Trust and Betrayal

Soldier 11 believes that betrayal is the greatest sin, and she is willing to risk everything to bring traitors to justice. Her conviction is absolute, and she warns, “Do not betray my trust, or your punishment will be by my own hand.”

Rewards

Completing Mole in the Hole strengthens the player’s bond with Soldier 11, unlocking Trust level rewards, including Polychrome.

Combat and Skills

Soldier 11 is a Fire Attack character in Zenless Zone Zero and serves as both a Primary Responder and the Lead Striker of the Obol Squad. She is a beginner-friendly DPS unit known for her high damage output, especially against stunned enemies. As the only Fire Attack character currently available, she holds a unique role in team compositions. Her Core Stat is CRIT Rate, and her specialty is Attack, making her a strong offensive unit.

Stats & Promotions

Soldier 11’s base stats (HP, ATK, and DEF) scale with her level and promotions, which require Denny and Attack Certification Seals.

Skills

Soldier 11’s skill set includes Basic Attacks, Dodge, Assist, Special Attacks, Chain Attacks, and Core Skills. Her damage primarily comes from Basic Attacks, which gain significant buffs from her Core Skill, making it crucial to maximize her attack potential. Investing in Dodge skill levels is also beneficial, as her Dash Attacks play a key role in her combat strategy.

Basic Attacks

Warmup Sparks – Executes up to 4 slashes dealing Physical DMG.

Fire Suppression – Enhances the attack sequence, converting damage to Fire DMG.

Dodge

Tempered Fire – A rapid dodge that grants invulnerability.

Blazing Fire (Dash Attack) – Slashes enemies in front, dealing Physical DMG.

Fire Suppression (Dash Attack) – Converts damage to Fire DMG.

Backdraft (Dodge Counter) – A powerful counterattack dealing massive Fire DMG with invulnerability.

Hold the Line (Defensive Assist) – Parries an attack, dealing high Daze and granting invulnerability.

Reignition (Assist Follow-Up) – A cross-slash attack dealing Fire DMG with invulnerability.

Special Attack

Core Skills

Heatwave (Core Passive) – Enhances Fire Suppression attacks by increasing their damage.

Fields of Fire (Additional Ability) – If another squad member shares the same Attribute or Faction, Soldier 11 deals 10% more Fire DMG. This bonus increases by an additional 22.5% when attacking stunned enemies.

Skill Enhancement Materials

Upgrading Soldier 11’s skills requires Denny, Burn Chips (Basic, Advanced, and Specialized), and Hamster Cage Passes.

How to Play

Soldier 11’s combat revolves around Fire Suppression, which enhances her Basic and Dash Attacks. Properly timing her attacks to trigger Fire Suppression is key to maximizing her Fire DMG output. She is particularly strong against stunned enemies, making her highly effective when paired with allies that apply Daze. Additionally, Soldier 11 can deflect bullets using her Dash, providing a defensive edge in battle. However, this ability does not work against other types of projectiles.

Skill Priority

Core Skill (Heatwave) – Increases Fire Suppression’s DMG bonus.

Basic Attack – Main source of damage, especially with Fire Suppression.

Dodge – Important for Dash Attacks, which also benefit from Fire Suppression.

Special Attack – Enhances damage and Daze effectiveness.

Assist – Useful but lower priority than her main DPS abilities.

Chain Attack – Not a key focus, making it the lowest priority for upgrades.

Team Composition

Soldier 11’s team-building options are somewhat limited due to her Obol Squad affiliation, as she is currently the only character in that faction. However, she excels when paired with characters who specialize in Stun, allowing her to maximize the Additional Ability from her Core Skill.

Team Recommendations

To optimize Soldier 11’s performance, it is ideal to include a Stun-oriented character who can quickly fill the enemy’s Daze bar. This will enable her to deal significantly more Fire DMG when attacking stunned enemies.

F2P Fire Team

This early-game team is a great option for players who have pulled Soldier 11, as Ben and Nicole are freely available. However, since Nicole is not a Fire unit, her Core Skill: Additional Ability will not activate.

Main DPS: Soldier 11 – Deals the primary damage output.

Attack: Ben – Builds up the enemy’s Daze bar to set up Soldier 11’s enhanced damage.

Defense: Nicole – Supports the team by reducing enemy DEF and gathering enemies together.

Bangboo: Rocketboo

Alternatives: Bagboo or Avocaboo.

Avocaboo is a strong early-game choice, as it provides healing for the team.

Fire-Stun Team (Premium)

For a stronger setup, Soldier 11 pairs well with Caesar and Lucy, who provide ATK buffs, Shields, and efficient Stun application.

Main DPS: Soldier 11 – Uses Fire Suppression to deal continuous Fire DMG.

Attack: Lighter – Helps boost Fire-based attacks.

Stun: Lucy – Effectively builds Daze to trigger Soldier 11’s enhanced Fire DMG.

Bangboo: Rocketboo

Alternatives: Cryboo, Sumoboo, or Avocaboo.

Additional Considerations

To fully optimize Soldier 11’s damage output, ensure that there is at least one other Fire character in the squad. This will activate the Additional Ability of her Core Skill, granting a bonus to Fire DMG and an even greater boost when attacking stunned enemies.

Mindscape Cinema (Duplicates)

Mindscape Cinema upgrades enhance Soldier 11’s combat potential by improving her damage output, survivability, and resource management. Some upgrades provide significant boosts, while others are more situational.

Recommended Mindscape Cinema

C1 (Okay): Grants Energy recovery when Soldier 11 enters combat or switches in, but the long cooldown limits its effectiveness.

C2 (Amazing): Enhances the Fire Suppression effect, further increasing the damage buff it provides. This is one of the best upgrades for Soldier 11 as it directly boosts her main damage source.

C4 (Good): Improves durability by increasing survivability in battle. This upgrade is helpful when struggling to keep Soldier 11 alive.

C6 (Amazing): Introduces a Charge mechanic, which allows Fire Suppression attacks to ignore 25% of an enemy’s Fire RES. This is an outstanding upgrade that significantly increases Soldier 11’s damage output.

Mindscape Cinema List and Effects

C1 – Rapid Heat (Partial 01): When Soldier 11 enters combat or switches in, if her Energy is less than 40, it is restored to 80. This effect can trigger once every 50 seconds.

C2 – Scorching Convergence (Partial 02): Enhances the Fire Suppression effect, increasing damage output for Basic and Dash Attacks.

C4 – Additional Durability Buff: Increases resistance to damage and improves survivability in combat.

C6 – Fire Resistance Penetration: Grants a Charge when using certain abilities, which gets consumed upon activating Fire Suppression, allowing the attack to ignore 25% of an enemy’s Fire RES.

Additional Notes

C3 and C5 only provide skill level increases and do not impact gameplay mechanics significantly.

Hollow Zero
