Introduction to Dragon of Dirge Guide

Wuthering Waves Dragon of Dirge Echo Guide: The Dragon of Dirge is a powerful Overlord Class boss found in the Dim Forest. It deals heavy AoE damage and drops valuable materials. As a 4-Cost Echo, it offers strong offensive abilities and enhanced stats, making it ideal for DPS builds. Its Requiem Sonata Effect boosts Spectro damage and complements burst-heavy playstyles.

In combat, the Dragon of Dirge utilizes a mix of sweeping tail slams, airborne dive attacks, and devastating energy bursts that deal massive Spectro damage. Timing and mobility are crucial, as many of its attacks cover a wide area and can break through weaker defenses. Players are advised to bring characters with quick dodge abilities or skills that can stagger the boss to interrupt its powerful charge-ups. Elemental counters, particularly those that can exploit Spectro weaknesses, are effective in shortening the fight. It’s also recommended to focus on its exposed weak points during its channeling phases, which briefly lower its defense and open it to heavy burst damage.

Upon defeat, the Dragon of Dirge drops a range of valuable items including Advanced Sealed Tubes, Tuners, and high-tier Echo upgrade materials. These drops are essential for enhancing both character progression and Echo development. Farming this boss consistently provides players with the resources needed to optimize their loadouts for late-game content. With its unique design, challenging mechanics, and rewarding Echo, the Dragon of Dirge stands out as a must-farm target for players aiming to maximize their combat potential in Version 2.2 Phase 2.

Dragon of Dirge (Boss)

Location

Region: Penitent’s End, located in Rinascita.

Specific Area: Found within Figurehead’s Shrine, a designated Overlord Class Boss arena.

Accessibility:

The boss can be accessed without requiring major story progression.

Players can locate it through exploration and unlock the nearby Resonance Beacon for easier repeat access.

How to Beat

General Strategy
Aerial Phase:

When the Dragon of Dirge takes flight, it frequently swoops downward toward the player.

During the dive, a Weakness Halo appears on its head — strike this point to stagger the boss and interrupt its attack.

If missed, the dragon flies past, turns around, and unleashes a barrage of Spectro spikes, which must be dodged carefully.

Close-Range Attacks

Frontal AoE Fire Breath:

Releases a wide cone of fire in front of it.

Deals continuous Spectro damage with no strong visual cues, making it difficult to anticipate.

Projectile Barrage (Melee Range):

Launches rapid volleys of energy projectiles centered around its immediate vicinity.

Best avoided by spamming the dodge button during the animation.

Stamina Management: Be cautious — excessive dodging drains stamina quickly, leaving you vulnerable.

Long-Range Attacks

Converging Light Beams:

At mid-to-long distance, the dragon fires several beams of light that converge toward a central point.

The safest response is to dodge through the beams at the right moment.

Spikes Barrage:

After missing a dive, the dragon fires tracking spike projectiles from the air.

These projectiles can be evaded by staying mobile and using directional dodging.

Elemental Resistance

Element Type: Spectro

Damage Resistance:

The Dragon of Dirge has resistance to Fusion damage.

Resonators that rely heavily on Fusion attacks, such as Changli or Mortefi, will have reduced efficiency during the fight.

Consider using characters from other elements to maximize damage output.

Material Drops

Defeating the Dragon of Dirge yields high-value rewards used for character and Echo progression:

Blazing Bone – Rare crafting material used in high-tier Echo or weapon upgrades.

Union Experience – Boosts Resonator level progression.

Advanced Energy Core – Used to ascend Resonators.

Advanced Sealed Tube – A vital material for Echo enhancement.

Advanced Resonance Potion – Improves Resonator resonance level, enabling access to additional abilities or stat boosts.

Dragon of Dirge (Echo)

The Dragon of Dirge is a 4-Cost Overlord Class Echo, offering high utility and damage potential for Resonators who benefit from Fusion damage and sustained AoE effects. As an elite-tier Echo, it features both offensive capabilities and strong stat options, making it a valuable choice for players seeking to boost their overall combat effectiveness.

This Echo is acquired by defeating the Dragon of Dirge boss at its designated challenge location in Figurehead’s Shrine, within the Penitent’s End region. As an Overlord Class enemy, the fight is significantly more difficult than standard bosses, and players should approach the battle with a well-prepared team to ensure a successful Echo drop.

When equipped as the Main Echo, the Dragon of Dirge grants a powerful ability: the user transforms into the Dragon of Dirge and summons a Grief Rift that lasts for 5 seconds. This Grief Rift periodically deals Fusion DMG to enemies caught within its area. At Rarity 5, the Grief Rift inflicts 36.81% Fusion DMG at regular intervals. At Rarity 2, the damage is reduced to 24.54% Fusion DMG. In addition to its active effect, this Echo provides passive bonuses when equipped in the main slot, granting the Resonator a 12.00% Fusion DMG Bonus and a 12.00% Basic Attack DMG Bonus. The Echo ability has a 25-second cooldown, allowing for repeated use during longer encounters.

For stat scaling, a Rank 4 Level 25 Dragon of Dirge Echo can roll with the following main stats:

HP %: 33.0%

DEF %: 41.8%
