Introduction to the Dimensional Hole

The Summoners War Dimensional Hole is a unique area designed for challenging battles against various bosses. It serves as the primary location to farm experience for second awakening (2A) monsters and to obtain valuable resources like ancient runes, ancient enchanted gems, and ancient grindstones. These ancient runes are similar to regular runes but offer higher initial sub-stat values, making them highly sought after for enhancing monsters. The Dimensional Hole also features the Dimension Predator, a particularly difficult encounter aimed at more advanced players.

To unlock the Dimensional Hole, players must first complete Rift Raid Level 1. The area operates on a distinct energy resource called Dimension Hole Energy, which has a maximum capacity of 100 energy. This energy regenerates at a rate of 1 energy every 2 hours. However, it cannot be recharged with crystals except through limited weekly purchases in the shop. Players can buy three sets of 10 energy for 120 crystals each week. Due to the limited nature of this energy, it’s crucial to use it wisely.

Currently, there are three dimensions within the Dimensional Hole: Karzhan, Ellunia, and Lumel. Each dimension features two main areas: a Remains dungeon for second awakening (2A) of monsters and a Rune Dungeon where players can farm ancient runes, gems, and grindstones. For example, Karzhan has the Forest of Roaring Beasts (rune dungeon) and Karzhan Remains (2A); Ellunia contains the Sanctuary of Dreaming Fairies (rune dungeon) and Ellunia Remains (2A); Lumel features the Cliff of Tough Beast Men (rune dungeon) and Lumel Remains (2A).

Each dungeon typically consists of multiple levels (usually five), with difficulty increasing on each successive floor. Additionally, the boss attributes within these dungeons may change from one floor to the next, offering an extra layer of challenge.

To help players experiment without wasting energy, the Dimensional Hole also includes a Test Mode. By selecting the “Test” option before entering a stage, players can trial their teams without using any energy or receiving rewards. This feature is useful for ensuring a team’s strength and strategy before committing to a battle, helping to conserve valuable Dimension Hole Energy.

Second Awakening (2A)

Second Awakening (2A) in Summoners War is a feature that allows certain monsters, specifically natural 2-Star or 3-Star monsters, to undergo a further awakening process. This enhancement significantly improves their abilities by giving them a new appearance, increased base stats, and upgraded or entirely new skills. As of now, there are 14 monster families that can undergo Second Awakening, and more may be added in the future.

Dimension Hole and 2A Dungeons

The Dimension Hole is a special area in Summoners War where you can access dungeons for second awakening and farm ancient runes, ancient enchanted gems, and ancient grindstones. The Dimension Hole is divided into several dimensions, each containing a rune dungeon and a Remains dungeon specific to certain monster families for second awakening.

The Karzhan Dimension includes the Forest of Roaring Beasts (rune dungeon) and Karzhan Remains (second awakening for Inugami, Warbear, and Griffon). Only natural 4-star or lower monsters are allowed in Karzhan battles.

The Ellunia Dimension includes the Sanctuary of Dreaming Fairies (rune dungeon) and Ellunia Remains (second awakening for Fairy, Pixie, and High Elemental). You must use monsters of the same attribute for battles in Ellunia.

The Lumel Dimension includes the Cliff of Tough Beast Men (rune dungeon) and Lumel Remains (second awakening for Werewolf and Martial Cat).

The total star grade of the monsters in your team must sum to 15 or lower. Khalderun includes dungeons for second awakening Grim Reaper and Howl. The entry requirement for Khalderun Remains is having one monster of each type (Attack, Defense, HP, Support) in your team.

To participate in any of these dungeons, you consume Dimension Hole Energy, which is a separate energy pool from your regular energy. You have a maximum of 100 Dimension Hole Energy, which recharges at a rate of 1 energy every 2 hours. Unlike regular energy, Dimension Hole Energy cannot be recharged with crystals, but a limited amount can be purchased from the shop each week.

Farming Ancient Runes, Gems, and Grindstones

Farming Ancient Runes, Gems, and Grindstones is primarily done in the Dimension Hole, an area unlocked by winning Rift Raid Level 1. The Dimension Hole contains three main dimensions: Karzhan, Ellunia, and Lumel. Each of these dimensions has two types of dungeons: a rune dungeon and a “Remains” dungeon.

The rune dungeons are where you directly farm Ancient Runes, as well as Ancient Enchanted Gems and Ancient Grindstones. The specific rune sets that drop depend on the dimension:

Karzhan – Forest of Roaring Beasts: Drops Rage, Energy, Blade, Endure, and Nemesis Ancient Runes. You can also obtain Ancient Enchanted Gems and Grindstones corresponding to these rune sets. Only default 4-star or lower monsters can enter Karzhan.

Ellunia – Sanctuary of Dreaming Fairies: Drops Despair, Endure, Nemesis, Will, and Accuracy Ancient Runes. Corresponding Ancient Enchanted Gems and Grindstones also drop here. Only monsters of the same attribute can enter Ellunia.

Lumel – Cliff of Tough Beast Men: Drops Vampire, Energy, Guard, Will, and Destroy Ancient Runes. You can also obtain Ancient Enchanted Gems and Grindstones matching these sets. The entrance limit for Lumel is that the sum of the default star grades of the monsters in your team must be 15 or lower.

Completing a run in these Dimension Hole rune dungeons rewards you with one of the following: an Ancient Rune, an Ancient Grindstone, or an Ancient Gem.

Ancient Runes, Gems, and Grindstones are similar to their normal counterparts but have a small increase in the initial stat values. For example, an Ancient Rune might start with a higher speed substat than a regular rune, although the upgrade rates are the same. Ancient Grindstones and Gems also offer a slight increase in the initial stat values compared to normal ones. Additionally, Ancient Runes can reach a higher potential due to the availability of higher-value grinds and gems.

The “Remains” dungeons (Karzhan Remains, Ellunia Remains, and Lumel Remains) are primarily for Second Awakening monsters but also reward materials used to craft Ancient Runes and Ancient Reappraisal Stones in the Craft Building. The rewards from the “Remains” dungeons include:

Ancient Magic Stones: Used to craft Ancient Runes and Ancient Reappraisal Stones.

Rune Ore (specific to each dimension – Karzhan Rune Ore, Ellunia Rune Ore, Rune Ore of Lumel): Used to craft Ancient Runes of the corresponding dimension.

Source of Ancient Magic: Used to craft Ancient Runes and Ancient Reappraisal Stones.

To craft an Ancient Rune, go to the Craft Building and select a rune of each dimension to craft. You will need the Rune Ores dropped in the selected dimension. Ancient Reappraisal Stones require Ancient Magic Stones and Ancient Magic Origins and can be crafted twice per week. These stones can only be used on Ancient Runes, and normal Grindstones, Enchanted Gems, and Reappraisal Stones cannot be used on them.

Entering any battle in the Dimension Hole consumes Dimension Hole Energy, which is a separate resource from your regular energy. You have a maximum of 100 Dimension Hole Energy, and it recharges at a rate of 1 energy every 2 hours. You cannot recharge this energy with crystals, except for a limited weekly purchase in the shop. Due to its scarcity, efficient use of Dimension Hole Energy is crucial.

To farm effectively, prioritize Stage 5 of the rune dungeons for the best rewards, as lower stages are less efficient. Focus your farming efforts on one dimension that best suits your current needs. For example, Ellunia is often a good starting point for its Will and Despair runes. Karzhan is recommended for Rage or Blade runes, particularly for PvE damage dealers, and Lumel is useful for Vampire and Will runes. It’s better to aim for a safe, consistent team that can clear the highest stage you can manage without failing, rather than a fast but unreliable team, to avoid wasting energy. Use the Test Mode to ensure your team’s success rate.

Consider refilling Dimension Hole Energy with crystals only if you are consistently clearing Stage 5 dungeons and are looking for high-quality Ancient Runes. Refilling energy early on is not recommended unless you can clear the higher stages efficiently. When deciding which dimension to farm, consider the usefulness of the rune sets offered. For example, Ellunia provides Despair and Will, which are widely used in various content.

You can also craft Ancient Runes using materials from the “Remains” dungeons. However, farming the rune dungeons directly is generally more efficient for obtaining specific runes. The “Monster Info” tab in the dungeon interface can give valuable insights into common team compositions for each stage, helping you build your own team. Before tackling higher levels, review the boss’s mechanics to plan your team accordingly.

Team compositions will vary depending on the dimension’s entrance requirements and boss mechanics, but common strategies include using monsters with attack bar control, healing and support, damage-dealing capabilities, defense break, cleanse and/or immunity, and revive. By understanding these aspects of the Dimension Hole and the benefits of Ancient Runes, Gems, and Grindstones, you can strategically approach farming in this important part of Summoners War progression.

Dimension Predator

The Dimension Predator (DHP) is a challenging single-player PvE content found within the Dimension Hole of Summoners War. It is considered a later-game feature that requires a well-prepared team to defeat. The DHP involves fighting an enhanced boss that rotates through five different dimensions weekly, starting with Karzhan. Each battle consists of three phases, where the difficulty increases as the battle progresses.

The general mechanics of the Dimension Predator encounter involve significant increases in the boss’s base stats, such as attack, defense, and HP, which are amplified by a factor of 10, though runes and towers only affect the base values. Bonus speed is applied at 1/10th of its value, making a unit’s base speed more crucial. During the fight, the boss uses a variety of abilities and has multiple passive effects, including immunity to ATB pushback and Glancing effects, and takes reduced damage from certain types of attacks.

The encounter starts with Phase 1, where the Dimension Predator uses abilities like Endless Pain, which inflicts continuous damage (DOT) without a turn limit. The DHP also has a mechanic called Grudge Eruption, which triggers after 15 hits, applying a Defense Break and a Crit Rate buff for three turns. At the end of Phase 1, the boss creates illusions of two of the player’s units, which must be defeated within 20 turns, or the DHP gains a significant damage boost.

In Phase 2, the DHP gains new abilities, such as Watcher’s Eye, which drains the target’s HP based on the amount of Continuous Damage on them. Another Soul Clone phase follows, where players must defeat new illusions of their units. In Phase 3, the DHP gains Curse of Rage, which curses the enemy that inflicts the most damage, causing them to deal double damage but automatically die after two turns. The phase also introduces two crystals: one that boosts the boss’s attack bar and another that inflicts Heal Block on all enemies. Grudge Eruption is still active, adding more pressure to manage damage carefully.

The team composition for this battle requires specific roles. Key strategies include maintaining Attack Buffs, Defense Breaks, healing, and managing Continuous Damage. Cleanse and immunity are especially important to deal with the DOT effects from Endless Pain and Grudge Eruption. Players should also focus on controlling damage to prevent triggering Grudge Eruption on vulnerable units and use characters that can manipulate the attack bar, like Verdehile, or those with revive abilities, such as Amarna or Perna.

Violent Rune

For the rune setup, Violent runes are recommended for healers and cleansers to ensure they can use their skills frequently. Damage dealers should use standard damage-focused runes like Rage or Fatal. Revenge runes should be avoided due to the risk of triggering Grudge Eruption at low HP. In terms of artifacts, S1/2 Recovery and S1 Accuracy are useful, and nukers should focus on cooldown reduction and damage-related artifacts.

As for the rewards, defeating the Dimension Predator grants players one of five runes, which could include high-value runes such as Swift SPD slot 2 or Shield runes with favorable stats. While some other rune sets like Guard, Destroy, or Tolerance may be less desirable, depending on their stats and overall usefulness.

In preparation, players should use the Test Mode to verify their team’s viability before committing Dimension Hole energy to the fight. With careful planning and strategic team building, players can conquer the Dimension Predator and obtain powerful rewards to further progress in the game.

Dimension Hole Energy Management

Managing Dimension Hole Energy is a key aspect of progressing in Summoners War due to its limited availability compared to regular energy. Dimension Hole Energy is a separate resource used specifically for Dimension Hole content, including the Second Awakening dungeons (Remains) and the Ancient Rune dungeons (Sanctuary, Forest, Cliff). It has a maximum capacity of 100 energy, and each battle entry consumes one unit of energy, making it a valuable resource that regenerates slowly.

Dimension Hole Energy regenerates naturally at a rate of 1 energy every 2 hours, which means it takes over eight days to fully refill from empty. Additionally, you can purchase extra Dimension Hole Energy from the Shop, with a limit of three purchases per week. Each purchase costs 120 crystals and grants 10 energy, totaling 30 extra energy per week. Occasionally, events may also offer Dimension Hole Energy as a reward, providing opportunities to refill your energy stockpile.

In the early to mid-game, it is recommended to prioritize Second Awakening (2A) monsters when using Dimension Hole Energy. Second Awakening significantly improves monster stats and skills, aiding progression across various content. Once you have a sufficient number of second-awakened monsters, your focus can shift to farming Ancient Runes, Enchanted Gems, and Grindstones in the Sanctuary, Forest, or Cliff stages, which offer higher potential stat rolls compared to regular runes.

Farming higher-level stages is key to making your Dimension Hole Energy more efficient. Aim to consistently farm the highest level (Level 5) of the Second Awakening dungeons your team can handle, as higher levels grant more experience per run. Similarly, aim for B5 in the Ancient Rune dungeons for better drop rates. When farming, it’s essential to prioritize consistency over speed. Failing runs wastes valuable Dimension Hole Energy, so ensure your team is reliable before committing energy to a run.

Using Test Mode before each run is essential to ensure your team can clear the stage without wasting energy on failed attempts. Additionally, it’s important to be mindful of the specific entry requirements for each Dimension Hole area. For instance, certain dungeons may have restrictions on the star grade or attribute of monsters allowed. Make sure to build your teams accordingly to meet these requirements. While farming for Second Awakening experience, remember that the monster being second awakened must be part of your team and must also be fully skilled up to complete the awakening process.

While it is possible to refill Dimension Hole Energy with crystals, this strategy should be used cautiously. Refilling with crystals can be expensive, and while the chances of getting higher-quality runes from Ancient Rune dungeons are better than from regular dungeons like Necropolis, the cost of refilling may not be worthwhile if your primary goal is simply to complete Second Awakenings. For farming Ancient Runes or specific rune sets, however, refilling can be more justifiable.

To effectively manage Dimension Hole Energy, try to use it regularly and avoid letting it cap at 100, as you’ll lose out on potential regeneration. Your priorities for using Dimension Hole Energy will shift as your account progresses. Early on, focus on Second Awakenings, then transition to farming Ancient Runes and other valuable resources as your team and goals evolve. Incorporating Dimension Hole into your daily routine, along with other daily activities such as Guild Content and Arena, will ensure that you are making the most of your energy and progressing efficiently.

By following these guidelines, you can manage your Dimension Hole Energy effectively and make steady progress in Summoners War. Your strategy will naturally adjust based on your current stage in the game and the goals you aim to achieve.

Crafting with Dimensional Hole Rewards

Crafting with Dimension Hole rewards primarily revolves around the Craft Building, where you can create Ancient Runes and Ancient Reappraisal Stones. The rewards obtained from different Dimension Hole areas are used as crafting materials for these powerful items.

In the Ancient Guardian Dungeons (Karzhan, Ellunia, Lumel), completing runs rewards you with one of the following: Ancient Runes, Ancient Grindstones, or Ancient Gems. These Ancient Runes have slightly higher initial substat values compared to regular runes. The specific type of Ancient Rune you receive depends on the dimension you are farming, with each dimension offering different rune sets. Clearing Secondary Awakening Dungeons (such as Karzhan Remains, Ellunia Remains, Lumel Remains) also provides specific materials, including Ancient Magic Stones, Rune Ore specific to each dimension (Karzhan Rune Ore, Ellunia Rune Ore, and Rune Ore of Lumel), and Source of Ancient Magic.

To craft Ancient Runes, you must go to the Craft Building and select Rune > Craft Ancient Rune. When crafting, you can choose a rune from each dimension to craft. The Rune Ore you use will determine the set of the Ancient Rune you can create (for example, Karzhan Rune Ore for Rage/Blade/etc. runes). You’ll need both Ancient Magic Stones and the specific Rune Ore corresponding to the dimension whose runes you want to craft.

To craft Ancient Reappraisal Stones, go to the Craft Building and select Special > Ancient Reappraisal Stone. The materials required for crafting these stones are Ancient Magic Stones and Ancient Magic Origins, which are likely related to or the same as the Source of Ancient Magic. You can craft Ancient Reappraisal Stones twice per week. These stones function similarly to regular Reappraisal Stones but are specifically designed to affect Ancient Runes.

Engaging with the Dimension Hole not only helps with Second Awakening monsters but also provides the materials necessary for crafting higher-potential Ancient Runes and the means to re-roll their substats using Ancient Reappraisal Stones. This process further enhances your account’s progression. The Rune Ore obtained from each dimension is essential for crafting Ancient Runes with the desired sets, making it a key aspect of developing your team.
