Introduction to Stardew Valley Emily Guide

Emily is a cheerful and optimistic villager in Stardew Valley, living in Pelican Town at 2 Willow Lane with her sister Haley. Known for her bright blue hair and her passion for tailoring, Emily enjoys making her own clothes and has a strong interest in fashion. She works part-time at the Stardrop Saloon in the evenings. Emily is an eccentric and unique character who is friendly to anyone with good intentions, believing in spirits and magic.

Emily’s relationship with her sister Haley is complex, as they have different interests and attitudes. Despite this, Emily maintains a close friendship with Sandy, who resides in the Calico Desert, and visits her on her birthday. Clint, the town blacksmith, harbors romantic feelings for Emily, though she is unaware of his affections. Emily follows a regular schedule, working at the saloon from around 3:30 pm and attending an aerobics class on Tuesdays at Pierre’s General Store.

On Fridays, if the Community Center is restored, she visits the Crafts Room. Additionally, she visits the clinic on Winter 11 and the Night Market on Winter 15. On Fall 15, Emily celebrates her birthday by visiting Sandy in the Calico Desert. After unlocking the Beach Resort on Ginger Island, she may spend time there as well.

Emily loves receiving gems such as amethyst, aquamarine, emerald, jade, ruby, and topaz, as well as cloth and wool. Her favorite cooked item is the Survival Burger, and she enjoys daffodils and quartz. Emily dislikes certain cooked dishes, including Fried Eel, Ice Cream, Rice Pudding, Spicy Eel, and Salmonberry, and hates Fish Taco, Holly, Maki Roll, Salmon Dinner, and Sashimi.

As players build their friendship with Emily, they will experience various heart events, such as entering her dream at two hearts, witnessing her care for an injured parrot at four hearts, seeing her dance at six hearts, participating in her “Clothing Therapy” session at eight hearts, and camping in the Secret Woods at ten hearts. A special event at fourteen hearts involves Emily asking for fiber and giving the player a new outfit.

As a marriage candidate, Emily will move into the farmhouse once married, adding a room to the right of the bedroom and creating a crystal garden outside. On rainy mornings, she may give gifts like Cloth, Wool, Duck Feather, Refined Quartz, or Bean Hotpot, and on rainy nights, she may offer desserts such as Rice Pudding, Blueberry Tart, Cookie, or Chocolate Cake.

Basic Information

Emily’s birthday falls on Spring 27, making it a perfect occasion to give her a loved gift and significantly boost your friendship with her. She lives at 2 Willow Lane in Pelican Town, situated south of the town square next to Jodi’s house. Emily works part-time as a waitress at the Stardrop Saloon, starting her shift in the evening around 4:00 PM. While she enjoys her work at the saloon, her true passion lies in tailoring, and she loves making her own clothes.

Emily lives with her sister Haley, and their relationship is somewhat strained due to their differing ideologies, interests, and attitudes. Their parents have been traveling the world for the past two years, leaving the sisters to live together. Emily is also good friends with Sandy, who runs a shop in the Calico Desert. She visits Sandy every year on her birthday. Additionally, Clint, the town blacksmith, has romantic feelings for Emily, though she is unaware of his interest in her.

Daily Schedule

Emily’s daily schedule follows a consistent routine. She wakes up at 9:00 AM and stays in her bedroom until around 12:00 PM, when she leaves to stand in the living room. At 3:30 PM, she leaves for work at the Stardrop Saloon, where she works until 12:30 AM, returning home after her shift.

On rainy days, Emily’s schedule is slightly adjusted; she returns from the saloon at 1:00 AM instead of 12:30 AM. On Tuesdays, Emily attends an aerobics class at Pierre’s General Store, leaving home at 10:00 AM. Her class starts at 1:00 PM, and after it ends, she heads to the saloon to begin work at 4:00 PM.

When the Community Center is restored, Emily visits the Crafts Room on Fridays at 10:00 AM and leaves for work at 3:30 PM. If the Community Center has not been restored, she follows her regular schedule. On Fall 15, Emily visits Sandy in the Calico Desert for her birthday, leaving home at 10:30 AM and returning home at 12:00 AM. On Winter 11, Emily has a clinic visit with Harvey, leaving home at 10:30 AM for the clinic. She moves to the exam room at 1:30 PM before leaving for work at 4:00 PM. On Winter 15, Emily attends the Night Market, leaving home at 2:30 PM and returning at 12:30 AM.

During the Desert Festival, Emily may spend the day at the Beach Resort on Ginger Island or at the Desert Festival as a vendor. If at the festival, she boards the bus to the Calico Desert around 11:10 AM, arrives at her booth at 11:30 AM, and leaves the booth to return to the valley at 12:00 AM.

After marriage, Emily moves into the farmhouse, but she still leaves the farm on Mondays and Fridays. On Mondays, she leaves at 8:30 AM to visit her old home, then heads to the town square before working at the saloon, returning home at 10:00 PM. On Fridays, Emily leaves at 8:30 AM to visit the docks, then goes to Pierre’s General Store before heading to the saloon, returning home again at 10:00 PM.

Gifts

Emily has distinct preferences when it comes to gifts, which can help you strengthen your friendship with her. You can give Emily up to two gifts per week, plus an additional gift on her birthday, which falls on Spring 27. Giving her a gift on her birthday has an 8x effect and triggers unique dialogue.

Emily’s loved gifts include Amethyst, Aquamarine, Cloth, Emerald, Jade, Parrot Egg, Ruby, Survival Burger, Topaz, Wool, and all Universal Loves. These gifts will have the most positive impact on your relationship with her. She also likes gifts such as Daffodil, Quartz, and all Universal Likes (except Fish Taco, Fried Eel, Ice Cream, Maki Roll, Rice Pudding, Salmon Dinner, Spicy Eel, and Sashimi).

She views several items as neutral, including all eggs (except Void Eggs), all fruit (except Fruit Tree Fruit and Salmonberry), all milk, Chanterelle, Common Mushroom, Dandelion, Ginger, Hazelnut, Leek, Magma Cap, Morel, Purple Mushroom, Snow Yam, Wild Horseradish, Winter Root, and all Universal Neutrals (except Wool).

There are also several disliked gifts, such as Fried Eel, Ice Cream, Rice Pudding, Salmonberry, and Spicy Eel, along with all Universal Dislikes. Hated gifts include Fish Taco, Holly, Maki Roll, Salmon Dinner, Sashimi, and all Universal Hates.

When Emily receives a loved gift, she may respond with, “This gift is fabulous! Thank you so much!” If you give her a disliked gift, she will likely say, “Sorry, (Name). I don’t like this.” If she receives a hated gift, she may express strong dislike, saying, “This gift has a strong negative energy. I can’t stand it.”

Movie Theater

Emily enjoys going to the movies, and her preferences can be a great way to boost your friendship with her. The Movie Theater becomes available once you complete the Community Center or through Joja’s Community Upgrades. You can invite Emily to the movies once a week, and she has specific tastes in both movies and concessions.

Emily loves the movie The Miracle at Coldstar Ranch, which will earn you 200 friendship points when you invite her to see it. She likes the movies Journey Of The Prairie King: The Motion Picture, Natural Wonders: Exploring Our Vibrant World, The Brave Little Sapling, The Zuzu City Express, and Wumbus, each earning you 100 friendship points. Emily dislikes the movies It Howls In The Rain and Mysterium, and no friendship points are earned for these.

When it comes to concessions, Emily loves Kale Smoothie and Stardrop Sorbet, giving you 50 friendship points for each. She likes all other concessions, earning you 25 points. However, she dislikes Black Licorice, Fries, Joja Cola, JojaCorn, Nachos, Personal Pizza, Popcorn, and Salted Peanuts, and no points are earned for these items.

Movies and concession options rotate randomly, so be sure to check back for new choices. During a disliked movie, Emily may say, “Yoba, please protect me from the dark energy of this movie.”

Heart Events

Emily has a series of heart events that reveal more about her personality and deepen your relationship with her. These special cutscenes or interactions are triggered as you increase your friendship with her, occurring at two, three, four, six, eight, ten, and fourteen hearts. There is also a group ten-heart event if you have dated all the bachelorettes.

At any friendship level greater than zero, Emily may send you a gift in the mail, such as cloth, sea urchins, or wool, with a letter. The chance of receiving a gift increases as your friendship with her grows.

At two hearts, entering Emily’s house when she’s there will trigger a dreamscape scene. Emily will be asleep and floating in a dream, meditating on a purple structure. When you enter her dream, she’s surprised and believes your destinies are intertwined.

At three hearts, Emily will send you a recipe for Salad. Upon reaching four hearts, you’ll witness Emily interacting with parrots outside her house. One gets injured, and she promises to take care of it. If you marry Emily, the parrot will move into your home.

At six hearts, when you enter Emily’s house, she will perform a dance for you. You can respond with either praise, embarrassment, or a slow clap, with positive or negative effects on your friendship.

At seven hearts, Emily will send you a recipe for Red Plate. When you reach eight hearts, she will invite you to the Mayor’s Manor for her “Clothing Therapy” event. This involves selecting outfits for the others, with amusing results, especially when Clint wears a gaudy outfit.

At ten hearts, you’ll receive a letter inviting you to meet Emily in the Secret Woods after 10 pm. You’ll need a Steel Axe to break the log blocking the entrance. Once inside, you’ll go camping together, and a bear will appear, causing you both to dive into the tent and share a sleeping bag. The next day, Emily will express her enjoyment of the experience in a letter.

The group ten-heart event occurs if you have given a bouquet to all the bachelorettes, reached 10 hearts with each, and seen each of their ten-heart events. Entering Haley/Emily’s house triggers a cutscene. If you have a Rabbit’s Foot, the bachelorettes gossip about Mayor Lewis and Marnie. Without it, they will be upset and refuse gifts for a week.

At fourteen hearts, Emily will ask you for 200 pieces of fiber. After completing this quest and waiting three days, Emily will give you a new outfit consisting of Emily’s Magic Hat, Magic Boots, Magic Shirt, and Genie Pants.

Marriage

Once married, Emily will move into the farmhouse and set up her own room to the right of the bedroom. She will also create a small crystal garden behind the farmhouse, which she will occasionally visit to meditate. Emily’s parrot, which was introduced during her four-heart event, will move into the farmhouse as well. In multiplayer mode, the parrot will only be visible to players who have completed her four-heart event.

To marry Emily, you need to reach 10 hearts of friendship with her and give her a bouquet from Pierre’s at 8 hearts. You must also have upgraded your farmhouse at least once and have access to the tide pool east of the beach. Once these conditions are met, you can purchase a Mermaid’s Pendant for 5,000g from the Old Mariner on a rainy day at the beach. After giving the pendant to Emily, the wedding will take place in three days unless there is an event scheduled for that day.

Once married, Emily may offer you gifts. On rainy mornings, she may gift you Cloth, Wool, Duck Feather, Refined Quartz, or Bean Hotpot. On rainy nights, she might give you desserts such as Rice Pudding, Blueberry Tart, Cookie, or Chocolate Cake, all of which are described as “raw”, “gluten-free”, and “sweetened only with cactus syrup.” On days when Emily stays inside the farmhouse, she may offer Cloth, Wool, Duck Feather, Refined Quartz, Bean Hotpot, Coffee, or an Omni Geode.

Emily leaves the farm on Mondays and Fridays. On Mondays, she departs at 8:30 am to visit her old home, stands in the kitchen, and then heads to town at 11:00 am to look at the river east of the Community Center before going to work at the Stardrop Saloon at 3:00 pm. She returns home at 10:00 pm. On Fridays, Emily leaves at 8:30 am to go to the docks west of the Fish Shop, then heads to Pierre’s General Store at 1:00 pm before going to work at the Stardrop Saloon at 3:00 pm. She returns home at 10:00 pm.

After reaching 14 hearts with Emily post-marriage, she will approach you outside the farmhouse and ask for 200 pieces of fiber. Once you complete the quest and wait three days, Emily will give you a new outfit consisting of Emily’s Magic Hat, Magic Boots, Magic Shirt, and matching blue Genie Pants between 8 pm and midnight.

Emily and Clint

Clint, the town blacksmith, has a crush on Emily, but she is unaware of his romantic feelings and sees him only as a friend. Their interactions are featured in several dialogues and cutscenes throughout the game. If the player reaches eight hearts with Emily before reaching six hearts with Clint, Clint’s six-heart event will be prevented, as he sees the player and Emily together.

In Emily’s eight-heart event, “Clothing Therapy,” Clint is hesitant about the event but is encouraged by Emily to participate. He dresses in a gaudy shirt, pink shorts, and a beret, and when Emily calls the outfit “cute,” it makes Clint feel sad. During this event, Clint realizes Emily’s romantic interest in the player and leaves feeling awful, which confuses Emily.

Despite Clint’s feelings for Emily, they do not end up together in the game, as bachelors and bachelorettes cannot marry each other or other NPCs. Emily mentions that Clint often feels lonely working in his shop all day and has trouble making new friends, though she also expresses confusion about why he is mad at her. Emily’s eternal optimism and ever-present smile might be part of the reason Clint is attracted to her.

Quests

Emily has several quests that can be triggered throughout the game, offering rewards like friendship points and items.

The “Fresh Fruit” quest is triggered by a letter from Emily on the 6th of Spring in Year 2. She will request an Apricot, and the reward for completing the quest is 600g and 1 friendship heart.

Emily may also post requests on the “Help Wanted” board outside Pierre’s General Store. These quests usually involve delivering an item, and the reward is 3 times the item’s base value and 150 friendship points.

The “Clint’s Attempt” quest is not directly requested by Emily, but completing it will earn 1 friendship heart with her. This quest does not count against Emily’s weekly 2 gift limit.

The “Rock Rejuvenation” quest appears on the Special Orders board in front of the Mayor’s Manor. Emily asks you to deliver one of each of the following gems: Ruby, Topaz, Emerald, Jade, and Amethyst. The reward for completing this quest is 1,000g, 250 friendship points, and a Sewing Machine. You must have access to the Sewing Machine in Emily’s house for this quest to appear.

Another rare quest, “Saying ‘Hello’,” appears on the “Help Wanted” board after completing the “Introductions” quest. Emily will ask you to say “Hi” to everyone in town except for the Dwarf, Krobus, Leo, Sandy, and the Wizard. The reward is 100 friendship points with each person.

Additionally, after marrying Emily and reaching 14 hearts, you will receive a special interaction with her called “Errand for your Wife.” Emily will ask you to collect 200 pieces of fiber. Once completed and after waiting 3 days, she will gift you a new outfit.
