Restoring the Community Center in Stardew Valley

In Stardew Valley, the choice between restoring the Stardew Valley Community Center or siding with JojaMart significantly impacts the town’s development and gameplay experience. Opting to restore the Community Center requires completing bundles that represent different aspects of town life, such as farming, fishing, and foraging. Each completed bundle provides useful rewards and contributes to revitalizing the town, unlocking new areas, services, and features.

To begin the process, enter Pelican Town from the Bus Stop between 8:00 am and 1:00 pm on a non-rainy day starting from Spring 5th. This triggers a cutscene with Mayor Lewis, who introduces the dilapidated Stardew Valley Community Center and mentions a “rat problem.” Inside, you will find a Golden Scroll in an unknown language in the lower-left room.

The following day, the Wizard sends you a letter inviting you to his tower in Cindersap Forest, where he reveals the scroll’s true nature and grants you the ability to read the Junimos’ language. This unlocks the first set of bundles, marking the beginning of your journey to fully restore the Stardew Valley Community Center.

Completing bundles gradually repairs different parts of the building, restoring the town’s charm and granting substantial benefits, such as reactivating the minecarts for fast travel, repairing the bus to the Calico Desert, restoring the greenhouse for year-round crop growth, and improving various shop inventories. On the other hand, if you choose to support JojaMart instead, you can purchase a JojaMart membership from Morris for 5,000g, which instantly converts the Stardew Valley Community Center into the Joja Warehouse.

This removes the bundle system entirely, replacing it with the Joja Community Development Form, where town upgrades are bought with gold instead of being earned through gameplay. While the Joja route offers a more straightforward progression, restoring the Stardew Valley Community Center provides a more rewarding and immersive experience, making it a popular choice for players who enjoy a sense of accomplishment and community growth.

Community Center Bundles

Restoring the Stardew Valley Community Center requires completing six sets of bundles, each tied to a specific room. These bundles demand a variety of items obtained through farming, foraging, fishing, mining, and monster hunting. Progress can be tracked by visiting the Community Center or selecting the Golden Scroll icon in the inventory menu.

Items can only be contributed while inside the Community Center and cannot be removed once added. As the restoration progresses, different rooms become accessible, each unlocking valuable upgrades upon completion. The Crafts Room becomes available after finishing the “Meet the Wizard” quest, and completing its bundle set restores the bridge to the Quarry.

The Pantry unlocks after at least one bundle is completed in the Crafts Room and rewards the player with the restored Greenhouse, allowing crops to grow year-round. The Fish Tank also unlocks after completing a Crafts Room bundle and grants access to the ability to remove the boulder from the river near the Mines, improving fishing opportunities.

Vault Bundle Set

The Vault in the Stardew Valley Community Center is located in the top right-hand corner of the building and becomes available after you have completed at least four bundles from any of the other Community Center rooms. Unlike the other bundles that require gathering specific resources, the Vault simply requires you to donate a total of 42,500g across four separate payments. Completing the Vault set is an important milestone in Stardew Valley, as it repairs the bus at the Bus Stop, granting access to the Calico Desert, where you can find valuable resources, new NPCs, and additional gameplay opportunities.

The Vault consists of four different monetary donations, each with its own reward. The first donation requires 2,500g and rewards three Chocolate Cakes, a valuable food item that restores 200 energy and 90 health, making it useful for long farming or mining sessions. The second donation requires 5,000g and grants 30 Quality Fertilizers, which significantly increase the chances of growing higher-quality crops when tilled into soil before planting.

The third donation requires 10,000g and rewards a Lightning Rod, a useful device that absorbs lightning strikes during storms and generates Battery Packs, which are required for crafting certain machines and farm upgrades. The fourth and final donation requires 25,000g and grants a Crystalarium, a machine that duplicates gems, allowing you to create an infinite supply of a chosen gem over time.

Once all four donations are made, the Vault bundle is complete, and the Junimos repair the bus overnight. The next day, Pam will begin working as the bus driver, allowing you to travel to the Calico Desert for a 500g ticket. The Calico Desert is an essential late-game location, home to the Skull Cavern, an advanced and dangerous mine where players can find Iridium Ore, Prismatic Shards, and other rare materials.

The desert also features the Oasis, a shop run by Sandy that sells exclusive seeds and items, as well as the mysterious Three Pillars, where players can use a Prismatic Shard to obtain the Galaxy Sword, one of the most powerful weapons in the game. Completing the Vault bundle not only expands the player’s exploration opportunities but also opens new ways to progress, farm valuable resources, and advance in Stardew Valley.

Completing the Community Center

After completing all the bundles, the Junimos restore the Community Center, bringing it back to its former glory. On the next sunny day after finishing the last bundle, you can attend the Community Center reopening ceremony by entering Pelican Town at any time. During this cutscene, the town gathers to celebrate, and Mayor Lewis acknowledges your contributions to revitalizing the town. Completing the ceremony unlocks the “Local Legend” achievement and grants you the Stardew Hero Trophy as a reward for your efforts in restoring the Community Center.

During the ceremony, Morris, the manager of JojaMart, arrives and attempts to downplay the significance of the restoration. At this point, you are given two choices in response. If you choose “Let’s be reasonable,” Pierre convinces the townspeople to boycott JojaMart, leading Morris to leave in frustration as he realizes his business is doomed. If you select “Let’s settle this the old-fashioned way,” Pierre directly challenges Morris to a fight. In a comically exaggerated battle, Pierre delivers a powerful punch that sends Morris flying through the roof, effectively ending JojaMart’s presence in Pelican Town.

After the ceremony, JojaMart permanently goes out of business, marking a turning point for Pelican Town. As a result, Pierre’s General Store remains open every day of the week, no longer closing on Wednesdays. Additionally, the town’s Blacksmith shop, run by Clint, is closed on Fridays, as he begins spending his time at the restored Community Center. The completion of the Community Center marks a significant achievement in Stardew Valley, strengthening the town’s sense of community and permanently removing Joja Corporation’s influence from Pelican Town.

The Missing Bundle

After completing the Community Center, a special cutscene will trigger on the first night before a rainy day. During this event, lightning strikes the abandoned JojaMart, causing its doors to open. Upon entering the building, you will find one final request from the Junimos known as “The Missing Bundle.” Completing this bundle restores the abandoned building and transforms it into the Movie Theater, an entertainment venue where you and the townspeople can watch films and enjoy snacks.

To complete the Missing Bundle, you need to gather a selection of rare and high-quality items. The required items include any Silver or higher-quality Wine, a Prismatic Shard, Dinosaur Mayonnaise, five Gold quality Ancient Fruit, a Gold quality Void Salmon, and Caviar. These items are among the most challenging to obtain, requiring farming, fishing, and processing resources effectively.

Restoring the Community Center is a major milestone in Stardew Valley, revitalizing Pelican Town and improving the lives of its residents. Completing the Missing Bundle further enhances the town by introducing a new activity that both you and the villagers can enjoy.
