Wondering what report status change means in MW2? We’ve got you! Since its release in October 2022, Modern Warfare 2 has been plagued by significant issues with its in-game reporting system. Many reports of “false bans” caused by spam reporting have been circulating, but little to nothing has been done to address these issues.
This problem has persisted into 2023, less than two months away from Modern Warfare 3 release date. Yet, players are still getting messages informing them that they have been reported. So, what exactly does this mean and how should players deal with it?
Report status change in MW2
The ‘Report Status Change’ in MW2 means that you have been reported by others, which is why you’re getting the notification in the top-right corner of your screen.
This message also comes in three parts. The first part provides information about the type of report that was submitted against you to Activision. The second section details the exact reason for the report that caused the penalty to appear on the account. The last segment states the resulting penalty from the reports.
For instance, if you receive the notification for Report Status Change, it’ll be followed by an ‘Offensive Chat Warning’. This indicates that the reported player has been reported for engaging in offensive chats and we suggest familiarising yourself with the penalty for offensive chat in MW2.
The persisting issue is that several players have received warnings for offensive names or behaviour, even if they have not used offensive usernames or engaged in inappropriate behaviour through in-game chat or microphones.
For now, the cause of this issue remains unclear. However, players strongly believe that it may be a false reporting bug and choose to ignore the message as nothing really comes from them.
So that’s all we have for you on the report status change issue in MW2. Things are heating up in Season 5 Reloaded. If you aren’t already part of the fun, see the new weapons in Season 5 Reloaded and head to battle!
