How to catch Chikorita in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet The Indigo Disk DLC

Before you can catch Chikorita, you must upgrade the Coastal Biome in the Terarium by contributing 3,000 Blueberry Points (BP) to the Terarium Club. This is done by interacting with the League Club Room computer. This will also unlock other starter Pokemon such as Froakie and Bulbasaur.

Once you have upgraded this biome, you can find Chikorita, in most of the areas. Chikorita seems to mainly appear on the western edge of the biome where it connects to the Polar Biome. We had the most luck finding this Pokemon along the western edge and by the ocean on the eastern edge.

You will encounter Chikorita between levels 50 and 70. Make sure to bring a Pokemon that knows the move False Swipe to make catching this Pokemon easier.

How to evolve Chikorita in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet The Indigo Disk DLC

To evolve Chikorita, you simply need to level it up. Chikorita evolves into Bayleef at level 16. After that, Bayleef evolves into Meganium at level 32. Since your Pokemon will be above this level, you just need to level up Chikorita once to get Bayleef and level up Bayleef once to get Meganium.

Strengths and weaknesses

Chikorita and its evolutions are all pure grass-type Pokemon. This means that they are weak to fire, ice, poison, and flying-type moves. These Pokemon are resistant to water, electric, grass, and ground-type moves.

Chikorita and its evolutions have the following abilities:

  • Overgrow – When HP is below 33% its maximum, the power of grass-type moves is increased by 50%
  • Leaf Guard (Hidden Ability) – Prevents the Pokemon from being afflicted by status conditions during strong sunlight
