How to get Magearna in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Okay, so here’s the thing, you can’t really get Magearna in the current game, Scarlet and Violet. The only way for Magearna to appear in Scarlet And Violet is in the form of in-game events and through Pokémon Home.Since the former is unpredictable, and there’s no saying when we can hope to see an event featuring Magearna, we can certainly look forward to the latter method.

However, ever since Pokémon Home was integrated into the current versions of the game, you can take any Magearna you may have caught in other versions of the game (Like Pokémon Sun and Moon, and Pokémon UltraSun UltraMoon) and send it over to The Pokémon Bank. From there, you can transfer it to Pokémon Home and then finally into your Scarlet or Violet profile. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Download the Pokemon Home app to your Nintendo Switch.
  2. Log into your Nintendo Account.
  3. From the Pokemon Home menu, select the Pokemon option and select Scarlet and Violet.
  4. Find Magearna from the storage box list on the left side of the screen.
  5. Drag and drop the Magearna box to the right side of the screen, where you’ll find your Scarlet and Violet boxes.
  6. Return to the main menu and save changes.
  7. Close Pokemon Home and open Scarlet and Violet to check if the transfer was successful.

Is Magearna a strong Pokémon? 

Magearna is an incredibly compelling Pokémon, particularly because of its Fairy-Steel typing. You can probably see how the two typing synergize with each other so well. Fairy negates Steel’s weakness to Fighting, while Steel makes Fairy less susceptible to other Steel-type attacks while completely nullifying its weakness to Poison.

Magearna is a steel and fairy-type Pokemon. This means that it is weak to fire and ground-type moves. Magearna has resistance to normal, grass, ice, flying, psychic, bug, rock, dark, and fairy-type moves. It is unaffected by poison and dragon-type moves.

It also harbours a powerful ability in Soul Heart, which can exponentially increase its Special Attack. Pair this with Magearna’s vast and potent moveset, and you’ve got an amazingly powerful Pokémon for battle. Besides, it’s a 500-year-old android, how cool is that!
