Here’s our guide to changing your name in Overwatch 2.

How to change your name in Overwatch 2

Specifically, we’ll be focusing here on how to change your BattleTag. If you’re on PlayStation or Xbox and want to change your name across all your games on those formats, that’s another discussion.

Your BattleTag is your name across all Blizzard games, including Overwatch, WoW and Diablo – so you may already have one. As long as your accounts are connected, your BattleTag will follow you across platforms.

So how to change the name then? Well, the first step will depend if you’ve changed it before or not. You see, everyone is allowed one free change of their BattleTag per account.

If this isn’t your first time – you’ll have to purchase a BattleTag change from Blizzard. It costs around $10 or £8, and is available from the Battle.net store.

Head to the store, and from the drop drown menu that says ‘Browse’ – and select ‘BattleTag Change’ under services. You’ll then be taken to the store page where you can purchase a change.

Once you’ve bought it (or if you have a free one) – head to your Battle.net Account page. There, you want to head to “Account Details” and then scroll to your ‘BattleTag’ – you should see a “Update” link with a pencil on the right.

Click this, and then you’ll be prompted to change you name. If you can’t think of anything, feel free to hit Randomize and it’ll suggest one for you. Make sure to picking something that adheres to Blizzard’s naming policy – so nothing offensive, and no spaces allowed.

Be sure you’re happy with it though, because regardless hitting ‘Change Your BattleTag’ will lock in that change – and you’ll have to buy another if you want to change it again. You can also hit Cancel to change your mind.

Once that’s done, et voila – you’ll now have your new BattleTag name. Don’t worry about telling your friends you’ve already made; as they’ll be updated with your new name automatically.

And that’s how you change your name in Overwatch 2.
