In the early-game, the tutorial rushes players into establishing a base to progress, prompting players to plop one down without much thought as to the location, whether that’s the proximity of resources, points of interests, food sources, and even other players. Fortunately, Once Human allows players to move Territory fairly freely, though there’s a cooldown and rising Energy Link costs if you’re base hopping constantly.

The benefit is that you can move base along with your progress across the map so you’re never too far from home and your stockpile of resources and workbenches. We’ll walk you through how to easily move Territory. For more early game pointers, check out our top tips and tricks as well.

How to move base in Once Human

To move your base, first scope out a new spot for your base. Note that though the game is fairly lenient and lets you build in most spots, it needs to be away from other player territories, strongholds, and other points of interest.

To relocate your Territory, bring up the build menu by tapping B, then tap Z (you’ll see the controls detailed in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen). Line up the green blueprint of your base where you want to place it, then left click.

A message will show up warning you that furniture and facilities will be disassembled and sent to your Territory Terminal Vault. This simply means that the shell of the base (walls, doors, windows, etc. – the building components) will remain intact but you’ll need to place down your workbenches, furnaces, furniture, and so on manually. The terminal is the grey device at the center of your territory as seen in the image below.

Once you’re happy with the height and alignment of your base, press F to confirm the move. Note that, you won’t be able to move base again due to a temporary cooldown (the length depends on your progress and level), so it’s worth taking the time to find the right place before making the move.
