In this guide, we will explain what the Latent Power skill is and how you can activate it in Monster Hunter Rise.
What Does Latent Power Do in Monster Hunter Rise
The Latent Power skill increases your affinity and reduces your stamina depletion over a certain period of time. Your activation of Latent Power is shown with a shining aura on your stamina bar and your hunter’s hands. The affinity and stamina symbols also appear above your life bar when you activate Latent Power.

The higher your affinity stat is, the more likely you will be to perform a critical hit on your opponent. Simultaneously, lowered stamina depletion results in lowered stamina consumption when performing tasks such as dodging, attacking, and climbing.
Therefore increasing affinity helps you perform stronger attacks which, paired with a bigger gas tank, greatly boosts your hunter’s offensive capabilities.
In total, there are 5 levels to the Latent Power skill, each increasing your affinity and lowering stamina depletion to varying degrees.
- Level 1: Increases your hunter’s affinity stat by 10%, lowers stamina depletion by 30%
- Level 2: Increases your hunter’s affinity stat by 20%, lowers stamina depletion by 30%
- Level 3: Increases your hunter’s affinity stat by 30%, lowers stamina depletion by 50%
- Level 4: Increases your hunter’s affinity stat by 40%, lowers stamina depletion by 50%
- Level 5: Increases your hunter’s affinity stat by 50%, lowers stamina depletion by 50%

In Monster Hunter Rise, Latent Power’s effects last around two minutes, and then the countdown restarts when you’re near a monster with weapons at the ready.
How To Activate Latent Power In Monster Hunter Rise
The activation conditions of Latent Power are kept secret, and only its activation is notified to the player. However, community testing has revealed reliable clues for when you’re likely to trigger activation.
- Engage In Combat: To trigger Latent Power, you must be engaged in active combat with a Monster. Drawing your weapons counts as active combat, and after a combat session lasting approximately 2 minutes and 45 seconds, Latent Power will be activated.
- Inflict Damage: Every successful hit on the monster will cut down the activation time, no matter the damage inflicted. Luckily receiving damage from the monster has no impact on Latent Power’s activation time.
It is important to note that because the game never discloses the exact method of activating the Latent Power skill, you might find slight variations in these conditions.
Final Thoughts
Latent Power in Monster Hunter Rise has improved, making it a strong offensive skill option. Sadly, the activation conditions remain a mystery to the player. But, the waiting time can be shortened by attacking the monster. Despite the lack of transparency, Latent Power shows great potential in battle.
