When dropping back for a pass that you intend to lob, all you will need to do is determine which receiver you want to throw to and simply tap their pass icon or key. Don’t press it or hold it too long, because if you do, it will result in a stronger, bullet pass that could get picked off if the trajectory of the throw is too low. Lob passes are mainly helpful for deep balls downfield, such as the Hail Mary pass. And as a result, it’s important to take the ‘tap’ factor into account.

Naturally, some quarterbacks will have better arms than others, which will allow them to throw downfield bombs with just one simple tap of the pass icon. So if you are planning on attempting deep, lob passes to your receivers, we do recommend you review the throw power and deep throw accuracy ratings for the quarterbacks you intend to use. The better the throw power and deep throw accuracy your quarterback has, the stronger his deep lob passes will be downfield.

Deep throws aren’t the only time you will be using lob passes, as you might find them to come in handy when trying to send a pass to one of your bigger wide receivers or tight ends on a fade route near the end zone. But that usually isn’t a popular choice among fans considering it isn’t that easy to execute, and you will likely find yourself using lob passes the most when sending your wide receivers on deep ball routes in Madden 24.
