Every Agent in Valorant offers a diverse playstyle that suits different types of players. That is best seen through roles – Controllers, Duelists, Initiatiors, and Sentinels. But having just one or a few Agents usually isn’t enough. Being able to flex to different Agents will greatly improve your understanding of the game. Valorant has changed the way you unlock new Agents, so we’ll explain everything you need to know.

How to unlock Valorant Agents

When you first start playing Valorant, you start with five Agents already unlocked and available. They cover one for each of the roles, along with one extra Duelist. So, characters that you’ll already have include:

  • Brimstone (Controller)
  • Jett (Duelist)
  • Phoenix (Duelist)
  • Sage (Sentinel)
  • Sova (Initiator)

Each of the other Agents will have to be unlocked in one of two ways. You can either spend Riot Points (RP) or Kingdom Credits (KC) to buy them from the Agent Store. You can find the Agent Store from the game’s home menu. One way is to go to Store and then click on the Agents tab. The other is to go to Agents and find the one you wish to buy. 

In both cases, you’ll see two buttons to buy the Agent, one for each currency. It costs 1000 RP or 8000 KC to buy a new character. Buying Agents with RP is essentially spending real-life money since that is the only way to obtain Riot Points. Meanwhile, you can get Kindom Credits by playing the game.

How to get Kingdom Credits in Valorant?

You will get Kingdom Credits for simply playing Valorant matches. The better you do in the match, the more KC you can get. Besides that, you can get extra by completing Daily and Weekly challenges, each of which will add a decent chunk to your total. Note that you can only store up to 10.000 Kingdom Credits at one time, so make sure to spend them before capping.

How to get newly released Agents?

Whenever a new Agent is released, you’ll notice that they aren’t available for normal recruitment. You can still buy them for Riot Points, but there’s no option to get them for Kingdom Credits.

Instead, there is an in-game event which challenges players to grind out 200.000 XP by playing Valorant. This lasts for four weeks and if you manage to do it, you’ll get the new Agent for free. Otherwise, the Agent will be moved to the usual Agent Store where you can buy them like all the others.
