Fortnite Festival, which debuted on December 9, 2023, marks a substantial extension into the rhythm game genre inside the Fortnite ecosystem. Harmonix, the developers of Guitar Hero and Rock Band, created this mode to introduce players to a unique blend of music gaming in which they may recreate hit songs from various artists on virtual instruments such as guitar, drums, bass, and vocals. Since its inception, Fortnite Festival has rotated through themed seasons, each featuring a different music icon, such as The Weeknd in Season 1 and Lady Gaga in Season 2, introducing new tracks and exclusive content with each update. As we approach Season 7, the excitement among players is growing, especially with the introduction of a new, much-anticipated feature: local multiplayer.

Firstly you need to know that you can only play Fortnite Festival local multiplayer with a maximum of 4 users at a time. Then, make sure your console has multiple accounts set up and linked to their own individual Epic Games accounts to launch Fortnite. For instance, if you wish to play Festival with 4 users in total, then you need four different accounts set up on your console, each with their Fortnite account already set up beforehand.

Once you’ve got that in place, launch Fortnite and simply start your controller and select your user while staying in the Fortnite lobby. Then let the host who initially launched Fortnite switch the mode to Fortnite Festival and launch the game in a Private or Public lobby. Unlike Battle Royale which splits the screen, Fortnite Festival is played on one single screen but with four different rows where you’ll have to match the notes. So, enjoy the game mode with your friends as the new Festival season brings Hatsune Miku to Fortnite.

Local Multiplayer arrived in Fortnite Festival on January 14, 2025, with the v33.20 patch that brought much more content to Battle Royale and Chapter 6. For those wondering, this update only allowed PlayStation and Xbox players to experience Fortnite Festival in a more communal setting, reminiscent of the local co-op sessions that defined Guitar Hero and Rock Band.

According to Epic, this feature intends to bring back the fun of jamming with friends in the same room, increasing the game’s appeal to a broader audience. Fortnite Festival also supports Guitar Hero controllers and other external controllers so you can enjoy the game mode as you like.
