Especially if you want to go up, climbing ladders or building staircases are good options, but they’re nowhere near to be the best! In this article, we’ll show you how to make an elevator in Minecraft so you can travel up and down automatically!
Prepare the Materials
The material may vary depending on you build the elevator and how large it’s. Also if you need to upgrade your elevator with a call down or call up function, you will need a lot more Redstone durst, repeaters, pistons, and observers.
You will need:
- Some building blocks
- 6 sticky pistons
- 7 observers
- 1 piston
- 10 slime blocks
- 14 honey blocks
- 6 obsidians
- 2 buttons
- 1 Redstone torch
- A stack of Redstone dust
How to Make an Elevator in Minecraft
#1 Build the Flying Machine
First, place 3 obsidian blocks on the first ground. This will be where your elevator stop.
Repeat this one more time on the second floor. Remember that those 3 blocks on each floor need to be at the same location (X and Z).
Come to the first floor, and place 3 Redstone dust near the obsidians. Then place an observer facing upward in the middle Redstone dust. Follow by a sticky piston and finish it up with 2 honey blocks in the back.
Now let’s build 2 slime blocks right on top of the external sticky piston. Then place another observer facing downward and followed by another sticky piston. This is your flying machine!
Let’s maximize it by placing 4 more slime blocks and 4 building blocks. This will create a C shape like this. Then if you place a Redstone torch on the beginning of the Redstone dust on the ground, the flying machine will fly up.
When the machine reaches the second floor, you can see the internal observer facing downward is exposed its face. Let’s build another 3 building blocks at the same Y level of the observer. Then place 3 pistons facing towards the flying machine like this.
Place another 4 building blocks right behind the 3 pistons above, then place 3 Redstone durst on top of those building blocks and whenever you place a Redstone torch here, the flying machine will fly down.
#2 Build the Wall
Back to the first floor, place 4 slime blocks into 2 columns on top of each obsidian block. Then place 2 more facing-up observers and 2 sticky pistons like before.
Repeat the same process in step 1 but this time, use honey blocks instead of slime for the upper part of the machine. This is the result!
Come to the front and build the rectangle doors with the building blocks of your choice. When you’re done, let’s make the pathway and place a button nearby to easily activate the elevator. Make sure the button is reachable when you stand inside the elevator.
Finally, connect the button with the 3 Redstone dust in the first step with a line of other Redstone dust. Now you can test your elevator!
Remember to repeat the step above to build another button for the second floor.
And that’s how to make an elevator in Minecraft!
