Diablo 4 Baleful Fragments are an extremely useful upgrade material that’s in short supply around Sanctuary. They are typically needed to unlock the final upgrade for legendary weapons and armour along with imprinting Aspects. Unlike many of the upgrade materials in Diablo 4, you won’t find Baleful Fragments when you’re out exploring or beating dungeons.
We’ll outline how to get Baleful Fragments in Diablo 4. If you’re after one of the rarest materials for a legendary Aspect, check out the best Diablo 4 Aspects. To soup up your weapons and gear even further, it’s also worth knowing how to socket gems in Diablo 4.
How to get Baleful Fragments
You can get Baleful Fragments in Diablo 4 by salvaging legendary weapons at any of the Blacksmith locations across Sanctuary. Click on the salvage tab in the left-hand window, then on the hammer and right-click on the legendary weapon you want to salvage. You’ll get several rare crafting materials and salvage materials, including Baleful Fragments.
Note that you won’t always get Baleful Frament for salvaging a legendary. If anything, there’s a very small chance you’ll get the material for salvaging most legendary weapons, so it’s very much a question of salvaging as many legendary weapons as possible to raise your odds and hope luck is on your side when it comes to RNG. The drop rate of Baleful Fragments appears to be linked to power level and the higher your character, the higher the chance of salvaging Baleful Fragments from legendary gear.
Naturally, you’ll want to salvage legendaries sparingly as they are relatively rare. But by visiting the best dungeons to farm in Diablo 4, beating Diablo 4 Strongholds, fighting World Bosses, and taking part in Diablo 4 events, you should have a steady flow coming into your inventory. We aren’t talking large quantities, but enough to top you up with Baleful Fragments. Many legendaries won’t complement your build or may have inferior stats to your currently equipped gear – these are the ones you want to salvage.
That covers how to get Baleful Fragments in Diablo 4. The world of Diablo 4 has several crafting components from salvaged material to consider if you want to make the most of your pieces of gear and jewellery. Diablo 4 Murmuring Obols are also a great way to gamble for legendaries at the Purveyor of Curiosities.
