Abyssal Scrolls are a very important part of the new Infernal Horde feature. As part of your ascendency to higher-difficulty content, you will need to upgrade your Infernal Compass. Yet, to do that, you need a rare material called Abyssal Scrolls. Here’s a closer look at the best ways to get Abyssal Scrolls in Diablo 4.

Abyssal Scroll locations in Diablo 4

If you want to get your hands on the Abyssal Scrolls then you need to do the following:

  • Open Helltide Mystery Chests
  • Open Material Spoils of Hell chests at the end of successful Infernal Horde runs
  • Salvaging an Infernal Compass can give you an Abyssal Scroll

The Helltide Mystery Chests will be your go-to for Abyssal Scrolls. You will also need to run lower-tier Infernals for a repeatable chances of the Abyssal Scrolls dropping. You can open a few of these material spoils per run during an Infernal Horde session. That way you can target upgrade your Infernal Compasses to make it to the next turn.

To help speed things up, you can get a Seasonal Blessing. There’s a new one called the Urn of Abyssal Knowledge. This boosts the chance to receive an Abyssal Scroll from Spoils of Hell chests, which again are the chests at the end of successful Infernal Horde missions.

Salvaging Infernal Compasses did grant you Abyssal Scrolls in the PTR. We need to check if this is still in the game in the full release as that was a temporary change to help PTR farmers. It may still make it into the full seasonal launch but we’re not too sure.

When you collect enough of the Abyssal Scrolls, you can upgrade the tiers of your Compass. This allows you to take on new threats and foes, getting more affixes to get even more Unique and Legendary drop chances. All in all, it’s worth farming Abyssal Scrolls to help bring you from your previous tier to the next, at least once you’re happy with your character’s build and gear to take on more difficult challenges. This should help you progress through the new permanent feature of Diablo 4 and get even more gear.
