Before Changing Your Minecraft Username
You need to migrate your Minecraft account (Mojang account) to a Microsoft account. If you didn’t do anything just yet and wanted to know how to do the migration, feel free to check this article.
How to Change Minecraft Username
Go to the homepage of Minecraft and click “Log in” on the navigation located in the upper right corner.
Then click “Sign in with Microsoft”. Then use your login credential to log in.
You will be brought to the “My Game” page. Depending on which platform or edition you’ve purchased, you will see the “Change Skin” and “Profile Name” options below the corresponding card. In this example, we already purchased Minecraft Java Edition so we can see the 2 options right below that card.
Click on “Profile Name”, then on this screen, you can put any new name in the text field and Mojang will check if your new name is not taken by anyone. When you’re pleased with the new name, simply click “Change Profile Name”.
Congratulation! Now you know how to change your Minecraft username the right way! Remember that you can only do this once per 30 days, so choose your name wisely before clicking the submit button!
